They don't know any better. New Yorkers think there is a moat filled with monsters surrounding the city, and anywhere beyond the moat is a scary, unlivable place, like the end . Of the world.

Joe, most of these people are down with Mayor DiBlasio, aka Warren Wilhelm Jr. They will support the mayor's BS until it effects them personally or financially.

As screwed up as NY City is, why would anyone want to live there?
Maybe it's the people who are making a fortune screwing up the city that are buying these condos.
That, & they may be being purchased by shell companies in the name of whoever buys these things, but their legal residence could be outside NY state. For tax purposes, of course. Also, these are people who are not participating in the recession, & they are above the pricing system. If gas costs $8 a gallon, it's not bothering them.

As much as I would like to read the linked story, I refuse to create an online account to the NTY and accept their cookies.
That said, how else can you explain this market boom without it being related to the government subsidizing it by paying off their cronies?
