I don't see the problem, smart people won't buy these and you won't be able to retrofit old guns with it.

Think I'll stick with a old school tried and true method of primer ignition. Would hate to have the government lock out my means of self defense in a time of emergency, just to be taken out by a mob with rocks.
I was watching that reality show about Kodiak Island last night, and right now I have this vision of a pissed-off Kodiak brown bear charging at 40 mph while the poor hunter suddenly realizes his battery-operated kill switch has malfunctioned. I guess he can always tell the bear to stop so he can explain. That'll work.
A Griz can cover 25yds in about 1.5 seconds from a dead stop. In firearms training they taught us to put 2 rounds in center mass (from concealment) in about 1.5-1.7 seconds. I don't ever want to test my speed against a Grizzly. Maybe some of those inner city bears would be OK.

As I posted on another thread. ALL my firearms have a "kill switch"....us older folks just call it a trigger.
Keep your "smart guns", I will bet on an intelligent (trained, knowledgeable) shooter any day.

when i saw this article headline something in my brain said, oh great, now when the cops is armed with these things, their jerks in charge will be able to kill via computer control, not stopping the pistol/rifle from firing, but rather picking off their own targets from afar via headsup display in cop helmets. this could also easily be done with military types, like nasty girls or college cadidiots. or am i barking out in left field?

It's also a 22lr. You don't want to missunderestimate the 22, but unless your self defense scenarios are limited to slow, belligerent squirrels, that ain't going to cut it.

22LR works wonders when administered in pairs behind the ear. The damn thing probably beeps and has a green LED that flashes when you're cleared to shoot... limiting yourself to slow, belligerent squirrels! I think I'm going to wait until they develop a gun that you can just load and shoot when you want to and without all the electronic hoopla....

That thing's gonna need a battery too. So they're developing obsolete technology. There has to be a pile of gubmint grant money involved.
With science, "clever" and "new" always trumps "idiotically vulnerable." "Gee, it's just so neato that I never thought it might be utterly useless half the time."
And as for obsolete, well, they just LOVE building that right into the design!
