We coulda sworn the Left told us that was one of capitalism’s evils….

Every major hotel chain in the world is lined up and ready to develop the coastal areas as soon as the Castros are removed. As close as Cuba is to the US, its economy and standard of living of virtually every Cuban would increase at an enormous rate as tourism to such an easily accessible place would be the fuel for that growth. The rest of the Caribbean vacation destinations would have to up their games too to remain competitive. The consumer benefits there as well. I do love capitalism.
And there is that!
Those who live along the coastal areas would be easily able to sell their homes to the hotel chains. The hotels could pick the properties up for a relative song, which would be a fortune to these people. Then they would be offered jobs building or working at the hotels. The Cuban economy would thrive again. Remember the Godfather 2? Cuba would have that kind of prosperity again, without the rebels trying to overthrow the government. Money tends to change everything.

Yeah, but the heart and soul of communism is the corruptocracy. The only certainty here is that the very people they claim to want to "help" will be the only people left out of the success part of this equation.

You've got to wonder at this idiocy -- assume for a moment that fortune or whatever took a massive crap on you, and you were born in Cuba. You have a government-issued corrugated steel shack. You need money, so you decide to sell it? Who the f*ck to? What kind of money would they pay with?
Maybe they want to sell these houses to American lefties to move in. If they'd swap for the law-abiding Cubans, it'd be a good trade for us. There ain't nobody that hates communism like a person who spent their life under the boot-heel of it, and then emigrates to a different country and finds out that life doesn't have to be lived in fear of the State.
That's always something that makes me wonder. As "wonderful" as the Left calls Cuba, they never move there. As little as the Cubans know about the US, they swim across shark-infested water and die in their thousands to get away from it.
If communism/socialism is so great, please explain why the USSR is now individual states and trying to become like the US as far as their economy is concerned?
The real question is, why are so many in this country trying to emulate the failure that those countries are digging themselves out of?
are they permitting sales to foreigners? I can guarantee you, it won't only be lefties trying to get in on that action. I hope to see Cuba hopping again like olden times, before i shuffle off
Call me suspicious, but the more I think about this, the more it sounds like a pretext for someone knocking off all the desirable properties to friends. About the time a non-politically connected person wants to buy the property, it will all have been sold for a song.

The story says the police tried to control the disorder. What the hell??? I thought they called for a day of strikes and the idiot mayor encouraged the city workers to observe the strike. Whyinell didn't the police simply take the day off too????
