St. Louis Police Train With ‘Less Fatal Weapons” Using ‘Bozo Bullets.’ We can see a cop in a life threatening situation taking the time to think: Gee should I use the Taser? The bean-bag-loaded shotgun? The pepper-filled pellets? The rubber-coated bullet? The stun grenade? Or the Bozo Bullet? We wonder how many holes the officer will have in him by the time a decision is made? We wouldn’t blame Ferguson PD if they all walk off the job over this BS.

Yup. I ask that same question when I hear stories about a perp getting shot & killed after rushing towards a LEO with a weapon (or at least something that could be construed as a weapon) after being warned to stop and the family complains that the cops acted "too forcefully" because the perp had "mental issues" and "was a quiet man" and "wouldn't hurt anyone."
The cops will have to push a shopping basket around just to have access to the number of 'non-lethal' weapons.
How about returning to the days when your stupid actions against cops was a risk that YOU took, not the officer?
I use less lethal rounds in my .40 and .45 on occasion. I load them with 1/4 grain less of gun powder than the hot loads.
Do you use the published reload guides or work up your own loads?
Right now I'm just using a few of the common manuals, poppa. Still have trouble finding powder(s), but have some nice Hornady XTP hollow points that shoot real well. Luckily I bought 4lb of powder last year and saved it until I moved out of Kalif. There's lots of rifle powders around, but pistols, not so much.
I got real lucky last year and got 8 lbs of Accurate Nitro 100 last year. Paid $145.00.
I have Unique right now. Everything I've read so far as far as pistol powder is Unique, Winchester 231, and Bullseye seem to be the most popular/highest ratings. I'm open to suggestions. I've been able to load both .40 and .45 with 6gn of Unique with good results. No messing with the powder measure that way. Pretty accurate loads, also. Your price sounds good. I got the Unique here in WA for $19.95/lb last year.
According to the Alliant reloading guide, the Nitro 100 charges for these hollow points are as follows
40 cal
135 gn HP 4.3 - 5.0 gn
165 gn HP 3.4 - 4.0 gn
45 ACP
200 gn HP 3.8 - 4.5 gn
230 gn HP 3.5 - 4.1 gn
I don't use a powder measure, I got the Hornady Lock n Load Auto Powder Dispenser on sale for $180, and I love it. Never a problem with varying charge weights.

I'm using a Dillon RL550B progressive press with their powder thrower (measure?). I have a Lyman electronic scale to weigh my loads before and after I finish my them. Haven't reloaded for 30+ years but I love the Dillon. I looked at Hornady's nice set-up and went with the Dillon on several recommendations, and I'm sold on it.

For God's sake, how about we just go back to using a musket, they had a ball and could only fire on shot at a time, had a short effective range, and were not real accurate. .....And the designer of this thing referred to it as an "air bag" for bullets...Dumber than a smart gun, and just as worthless. I can see this thing not functioning and BOOM, you handgun explodes in your face. that would be handy.
But they made damn good clubs. That is what we need to do. Go back to the billy club and just beat the shit out of the bad guys. The more I think about this the more angry I become. I along with you and all of our brothers and sisters put our lives on the line to protect and serve. Now in St Louis an officer is going to be expected to make that split second choice of, pepper spray, taser, less than lethal force, deadly force. I want the professor to go on a month long ride along. Then make this bull shit suggestion. After spending a month in a squad car, answering all kinds of calls in kinds of areas and situations. His cowardly ass will come to a different conclusion.
If this was me, I would drill a hole through the damned thing so it would stay on the gun and have no effect on the first round. When they ask me what happened, I would just say the bullet went right through the damned thing.
This has tragic out come written all over it. That Guy is correct from the first day in the academy a recruit is taught to double tap when discharging their weapon. At least that's how it is here.

I believe the designer thinks this will give the cop a Les lethal option that can instantly transition to a standard one. Unfortunately, the idiots didn't realize firearms training often emphasises double tapping. So cop is more willing to use the weapon because it's "not lethal" and then the automatic follow up shot hits them center of mass.
There will be many dead cops down there. bad guys don't think twice about killing those who would relieve them of their freedom. This is a death warrant for every cop who carries it.
