Stress has become the most common reason for a worker being on long-term sick leave, a report reveals today. Experts said the psychological condition was the “21st century equivalent of the Black Death.” The Black Death killed 30-60% of Europe’s population in the mid-12th century. We don’t wish to minimize the dangers of long-term psychological stress, but comparisons with the Black Death are hyperbolic. Note that much of the info comes from “experts” whose livelihoods are enhanced by such pronouncements. To someone with a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

Anyone who thinks that stress related disorders are the equivalent of "gas bubbles" or "getting your undies in a bunch" is not well informed enough to express an opinion on this issue.
P.S. If you've got that much of a phobia about Obama that you can't handle looking at him on TV, there's a simple solution: switch off the boob tube. Oh, but that's TOO stressful an action to consider, right??? @@
It amazes me that someone supposedly as educated as Oblivious can't read a post and understand what was said.
I know, if she were to take it in context she wouldn't have a chance to say any stupid shit, and that is her purpose in life, to prove what we already knew, that the libtards really earned the "tard" part of the title!

Of course I can, Poopajoe. Someone posted a (hardly earth shattering) remark about stress related disability, and the usual gang immediately jumped to a bunch of oversimplifed conclusions.
Typically, not one of you had the intelligence or objectivity to question what was meant by "stress"-----you just automatically assumed the issue was about people not wanting to work. That, my boy, is the hallmark of an extremely lazy mind. It also smacks of some serious defensiveness on your part.
They went to the subject on those who were unwilling to work because that is said in the article. That people aren't going to work because they are "stressed." Try READING the articles and the posts in full before jumping to conclusions!
MORON! Everyone knows stress has nothing to do with laziness, you are lazy in assuming what people say because it fits your agenda.
Sorry, you lose my bitch!
TURDS!
Do you smoke crack before you post? That would explain a lot.
Mental health like poverty is an industry and without a constant flow of new "customers" the people who work in the poverty and mental illness industries will lose their jobs. In other words, perpetuating, overstating, and exasperating these issues is apparently the objective. It is necessary for those who work in those areas to ensure that definitions of each are as broad as possible to ensure a never-ending supply of "victims".

Do you never get tired of exposing yourself as an ignoramus, Kick? In fact, stress related disorders (regardless of cause) are usually quite strictly and objectively defined. The difference is that, when they're identified by qualified professionals, it's usually after some thorough examining, interviewing and testing, whereas, in your case, it's just a bunch of wild guesswork ä la Limbaugh.
You claim to be married to a nurse. Well, one of the first things nurses (and doctors) learn is to take a scientific approach to health care (yes, that includes mental health care). That means, no sitting in moral judgment of the patient, his/her presenting problem signs, symptoms or diagnosis, until you've collected ALL possible information.
That has nothing to do with being a "victim," and everything to do with professional competence. And it's both silly and immature of you to pretend that YOU know more about diagnosing stress related disorders than those who are actually licensed to diagnose and treat.
Olivia, YOU stress me out, and those of your ilk. And while I am a healthcare professional, I didn't need one to point that out. We all recognize that stress is around, that it causes problems, but we live with it. I would recommend some stress-busting lifestyle changes to reduce the effects, but the only people stress free are dead. In this case, Kick is pointing out a very good observation. 50 years ago people were just as stressed, but they accepted it and worked around it. Now everyone want a magic pill, activity or thought pattern that will remove all the problems in their lives. Its always someone else's fault, and no one takes responsibility for themselves. That is not only unhealthy for the individual, it is for the whole society. Get off your high horse, because you know its true. You just want to start an argument with Kick cause he's you favorite.
You're a fucking idiot, you know that? Prove I'm wrong, you piece of shit. Was that too strong? Too bad.
Ha...remember that Penn and Teller bit on the GlobalWarmingitus or whatever they called it? That lady out west somewhere with the rock farm? Making monies off libtards. yes sir!
BOOB TUBE? Isn't that a garment 300lb. hoochie mamas wear to cover the groteque udders they swing around down near their navels? Oh, and the hot pants riding all up in the crevaces of no return. I need a gulp of Pepto.
In the east (Where Olivia lives), they call them Moo Moo's for obvious reasons...basically its a tent to cover 300 to 400 pounds of Olivia, Uh I mean Ugly......
Olivia is from Illinois=mid west.
I think the term still applies..)
It's the mentality, not the geography.
BTW, has anyone noticed how the beginning of the word Illinios looks like bars in a jail cell?
Coincidence?
Yep - they call em moo moo's here too - big ol hunks of cloth the biggins can drop over their heads and go - most of em don't put no slip on either and when the sun catches em right ya get yourself a gawdawful glimpse of some rollin thunder, yes sir!
300lb Hoochie Mama!....now that's funeeeee
Hey I a tough job , so do a lot of us here, but that doesn't mean you get your undies in a bunch, deal with it because its part of life, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...The stress I get is whenever Obungles is on TV...it starts with heartburn, then gas bubbles and a headache... two aspirin, a couple of tums and one large noise from a "barking spider" (outside of course) and I feel better...I found that not seeing his mug on TV prevents 99 percent of my stress and my dog likes me better..:)
Even good things can be stressful. I agree that most workers are stressed out, but hey, the alternative is the graveyard, sooo. . . . .
I would be sick out of my mine if I knew I helped put HITLER in office too. I would know the gas chambers are very near.
If somebody decides they are just too stressed out to come to work, then I say fire their ass and hire somebody who realizes that stress is a normal part of the human existence and deals with it.
I'm sorry to be off subject, but I LOVE your avatar!
Thanks!
