Stress ‘is top cause of workplace sickness’ and is so widespread it’s dubbed the ‘Black Death of the 21st century’

Stress has become the most common reason for a worker being on long-term sick leave, a report reveals today. Experts said the psychological condition was the “21st century equivalent of the Black Death.” The Black Death killed 30-60% of Europe’s population in the mid-12th century. We don’t wish to minimize the dangers of long-term psychological stress, but comparisons with the Black Death are hyperbolic. Note that much of the info comes from “experts” whose livelihoods are enhanced by such pronouncements. To someone with a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
