Strong majority backs Jerry Brown’s tax-hike initiative. Age old tactic: ‘Someone else will pay for it! Not you! So vote yes!’ If this passes, and knowing California it will, the result will be a flood of rich people and businesses leaving the state. We guess Moonbeam can start taxing welfare and unemployment checks.

The tax rate in Ca. should be 100% for 100% of the people. The state can hand out the same to each person. Now that is fair.
Did you really expect anything else from Leftfornia? So many businesses and productive people have already bailed out, the majority of people remaining are either State Employees, or collecting.
This is a LA Times poll so it's suspect. But so long as their taxes aren't being raised, a majority of Californians will support a tax increase on the evil "rich". You might think that the proposed increase would, at least, smack the Hollywood left, but not so. Most rich movie stars have homes in the Golden State but maintain their legal residences in other, low tax, states. They may be dumb, but they have smart tax attorneys.
Bottom line: a tax increase will not reduce the state deficit and will not benefit education (it will, however, benefit public employees).
CA doesn't care where your legal residence is. If you make money in the state, they want a cut (Kind of like Frank White in "King of New York"). For corps, if they have a physical presence and do business, they pay. See "Water's Edge".
Don't tax you, don't tax me, tax that fellow on his way to Idaho, see?
Go Gault, just go Gault.
How? We still need to make money in order to live. It is a nice thought but unfeasible.
And if you believe THAT, I have a bridge to sell ya...
They are freaking idiots!
They get the government they ask for. I have little sympathy left for Californians, of any stripe. If you haven't bailed out of there yet -- I hate to say you're askin' for it, but . . . you're askin' for it.
You can't blame the Californians who live in the 50 counties that aren't run by progressives. They are hamstrung by state constitutional laws that give all 54 delegates, en masse, to the victor, whether 50 out of the 53 or so counties voted the other way or not. They need to change their constitution to allow for the proportional distribution of delegates based on the way the various districts vote, as apposed to the districts with the most people, stripping the rest of the state residents of their constitutional rights! Hell, half of the votes in the F***ing state are from illegal residents, unregistered drive-by voters, and drug addled teens and adults!
Or they need to leave.
If I WEREN'T rich or a business owner I would move away from California.
I did StrinaM, in 2005. However, comma, comma, I had the funds to move...unfortunately, I moved to Kentucky...another red state in the middle stages of collapse and turning purple as we speak! Any welfare rich state is a bad place for someone to move. PERIOD!
He basically bullshitting the state, The CEA, Prison Guards and other state employees favor the tax hike, Not many others, In fact the Teacher's association and Brown came to an "agreement" on his version of the tax hike, The don't give a shit about kids, just how much they can pocket, just like the SEIU, and the Prison Guards, The CCPOA. We are already losing businesses to other states, and this is just gonna increase the rate of them leaving. Not only that But some of the fellas who made a ton of money have decided to move to Nevada or some other state where there is no state income tax, with the internet they tell me they can run their business just fine without Kalifornia and the state's welfare free for all. Makes you wonder who is going to be left in a few years after Brown destroys the state? this is what happens when liberals have total control and basically tell the citizens to shove their ideas up their ass and they know better how to run the state. Only one bright spot is a couple of ballot measures that are competing with Governor Re-treads idea...They are better alternatives but with L.A. and the Bay Area the rest of the state gets screwed every time So I am not holding out hope..300 days till retirement and whoosh...off to another state to leave the golden shithole behind.
You're lucky, Notso. I have to put up with this nonsense for another 5-6 yrs., then I can bail out to Alaska for retirement. If it wasn't for the good job I have, I'd leave tomorrow waiving the "You're #1" sign as I step onto the airplane. To Jerry Brown, Boxer, Feinstein, Pelosi, Steinberg, Leno (Mark), DeLeon, Cedillo, Nunez, et al: Fuck You!
The voters of California NEVER turn down the opportunity to be taxed more. I look at the initiatives every year, go down the list, looking at the proposed cost of the initiative, and if it isn't a saving, I vote against it. Even if it means more work will be available for me. But alas, it is for naught.
