Study: sea levels rising; storms could wipe out Jersey Shore. Oh noes, the global warming monster is gonna flood the Joisey Shore! The commenters are clearly split on the matter: half seem to think the “study” is total bullcrap, the other half think wiping out the Jersey Shore is a good idea. Tough crowd.

No one in NJ says "Joisey".

There may be a smattering of people in NYC who still speak with that accent. It was common among gahment woikuhs on 7th Ave, and some places in Brooklyn and Queens (Bensonhuyst being one). In Staten Island, if your name was Earl, you were called Uyl. Strangely, the same people would change the url in their cars on weekends (and don't forget to change the urlfiltuh too).

Many decades ago, you'd hear that in Hudson County (Jersey City, Hoboken - across the Hudson from NYC). But that's long gone, replaced with "Nyoo Yerseee", along with other versions with the accents of at least 50% of the world's languages.

In most of NJ now, the proper way to say the name is Nujrzee, or Jrzee. If you say it without moving your mouth at all, you're saying it right.

  • Uh-Oh. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band may soon find the streets of Asbury Park under water.

    • One could only hope, but I have a bad feeling there would be some 'Save the whale' libtards roaming the beaches like they do and try to save her(it). Hell, if I saw her beached I'd probably go and pour water on her to keep her from drying out until the Libs could take over.

  • FTA:
“It’s the pounding action of these storms on our coastlines that’s gonna be more amplified with a higher sea level,” said David Robinson, Ph.D. at Rutgers University.

It's the pounding of a sledgehammer on your head that's going to amplify the feeling of satisfaction I'll get when you STFU!!

I guess Princeton will now become just another hack community college, it's accredidation in shambles, with the likes of this moron on faculty.

  • And here I was thinking it was from erosion from all the golf stream currents, silly me.

  • Although it may be a good Idea to see north Jersey under water, I spent my youthful summers on the south Jersey coast -- Cape May.

If Jersey is going under water, I would like to see a land bridge remain to get me to Cape May whenever I choose.

  • I'm pretty certain some jerk will claim that Teh Wun stopped the sea level declining via Solyndra, dead Golden Eagles, etc., etc.

    • Kalifornia was supposed to go by way of earthquake. Of course, the brilliant soothsayers did not bother to understand the forces at work, specifically that the coast and immediate environs west of the San Andreas are slowly (key word) sliding northward toward Alaska (not falling into the Pacific). In about a few hundred thousand years (or maybe millions), the coast will be an island somewhere north of Vancouver.

As for flooding, Kalifornia will not be hit all that hard by rising sea levels because:

      1. the sea levels will not rise anywhere near what the warmists say they will, and

      2. the topography in CA rises rather steeply pretty much everywhere except for parts of LA, Newark-on-the-Pacific (otherwise known as Long Beach), and San Diego.

So even a couple of feet of rising ocean won't go too far inland.

NJ on the other hand would be seriously affected, since the land is very flat across the sand-bar barrier islands and for many miles inland.
