Ted Cruz- Birthright Citizenship “doesn’t make sense”

• It was instituted in order to protect former slaves from being forced to leave the country after so many generations of being in this country. Having no knowledge of their past, or where they came from, nor the language of their ancestors, it makes no sense to force them go back. Their ancestors were forced to come here (unlike modern and contemporary immigrants), they didn't ask to be here, but they were brought here and with their past essentially torn from them, it would have been inhumane to force them to go back to a culture and country they were no longer associated with. It should have been MARKED as SPECIFIC for former slaves that lived in the US and children of former slaves that lived in the US. That way at some point it becomes obsolete on its own and it is up to Congress to get rid of it to keep the Constitution "tidy", but if not let it remain as a reminder of the past and historical issue.

  I have NO IDEA why the hell it was left so opened to the point that of course it is now abused to the max.

  • It was also meant to make American Indians be considered natural born. Which confuses me, since they're more natural born than an of us.

    • It makes sense because they had their own nations. I am sure that it took a while for them and everyone else to consider themselves/them as United Staters. They were in many ways forced into becoming United Staters, and if they weren't to be considered United Staters then they could be forced out, considering that they most definitely had NO PLACE to go, it was a good call to ensure that they remain here and couldn't be forced out by later governments (whereas former African slaves had at least a continent to go back to even if not a specific region to call home). I never heard though that it was created with NA in mind, but it makes sense. All it takes is a governmental body filled with enough NA haters (just like it would take the same body filled with Black people haters), the Constitution would be there to protect us.

• Why the hell didn't someone bring this up before Kalifornia was invaded by the Pregnant Horde from Mexico. The majority of Birth's in L.A. are...you guessed it, illegals, who when baby Juan is born, the mother signs up for welfare, and an EBT card plus free housing....

  • It doesn't matter. Kalifornia is a sanctuary state. They will allow the brown hoarde to come in and stay, regardless of the law.

• Nothing the democrats/socialists/communists/totalitarians (DSCTs) say or do makes sense in an altruistic sense. If you examine it from a self-serving point of view, it is crystal clear why they do and say their nonsense.

• I've always believed that birthright citizenship extended only to those children whose parents were already US citizens themselves. This progressive 'understanding' was always and has always been a wrench thrown into the spokes of the moving 'ship of state'.

  • That was also my understanding. If you're here legally, working to be a citizen, and have a child, then it's OK. Otherwise, GTFO!
