This from a man whose on father committed suicide. I hope turner is so proud of his comments that he makes them at the next Braves game. That way all of those who serve can stand up show him their respect by turning their back on him and then drop their pants and show him that he is a true ass hole.

I could give him a wide selection to choose from. And not only .357, but .44 in special and magnum, .45 in ACP and Colt, .460 S&W magnum, .500 S&W Magnum...oh we could help Ted spread himself and his intelligence in so many directions and at so many velocities.
If you can give such detail about the calibre of your arsonal, you just don't have enough weapons in your possession. Buy more guns and store more ammo! Of course, I'm no one to talk... :-)

I'd say that TBS was rightly named, so long as the initials stand for Ted's B.S.
I guess this ass hasn't had to deal with suicide up close and personal. People who have aren't usually so callous. My friend that I mentioned yesterday, with two tours Marine Force Recon behind him, attempted suicide. I lived next door to him, and when I got the phone call from his family, whom he had called to say goodbye, one of the scariest things I've ever done was to go into his house to make sure he was ok.
I wouldn't wish it on anyone, either to be in a position where you think suicide is the best way out, or being close to someone who has done it. It's ugly. And for this ass to toss it out there like that REALLY pisses me off.

Yeah, we're supposed to get irate that military suicides have now risen to the level that they are in the civilian population.
Here's how the media (which all of us here hate) work: War casualties go down? Report that suicides are now at the level of war casualties. And there you have it: today's panic.
Just like: AIDS deaths going down? Report that women (who were not a significant percentage) are now a higher percentage of AIDS deaths, so SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!
If a falling statistic doesn't play well in your propaganda narrative, then report instead that a steady statistic is now "more significant" and, therefore, a cause for alarm.
It's all part of "give us this day our daily panic." It's what has always been meant that "figures can lie and liars can figure."
Did ya'll expect anything different from this arrogant ass? Anyone who would marry Hanoi Jane has to be a borderline communist with no love for our country or those who protect us.

I was going to post this myself. Not only is the opinion Ted Turner expresed disgusting, he got his facts wrong and Piers Morgan was too stupid to know any better so the mistake was not corrected. Morgan represents everything bad about the media: stupid, biased, supercilious, and arrogant.
Ted said that suicides in Afghanistan/Iraq ("over there") outnumber KIA, which is false. Total suicides in the military outnumber KIA, which is an altogether different animal. More than half of the suicides are by service members who have never been deployed, so there goes the whole point Disgusto Turner was trying to make (that the moral wrongness of war is driving people to kill themselves).
This statement is very close to treasonous. If it was true it would be a legitimate point of discussion, but falsifying statements about morale in order to undercut a military effort is the very definition of treason.
Has there been a study done on the rate of suicide among military personnel vs. the general population? I would be interesting to see if the suicide rate for the military is actually lower than that of the general populace.
