Texan college bans pork from cafeteria over obesity and cancer concerns

• chip, chip, chipping away... It takes a whole bunch of villages to totally destroy a country. This is a fine example of how they do it - one chip at a time.

    The Paul Quinn College – a historically black college - has instituted the ban arguing that eating the meat can lead to high blood pressure, heart problems and obesity.

    The school’s president, Michael Sorrel, told The Dallas Observer that his students are especially susceptible to these sorts of health problems.

• Has nothing to do with dietary safety and everything to do with not offending Muslims. Book it.

  Remember when Muslims lived here quite peacefully, voted Republican on average and didn't try to impose their beliefs on others? What could have happened that changed this?

  • You beat me to it. I have never heard of this college, but if it is predominately black, they are likely aquiring more followers of Islam, which blacks seem to think represents them better. The ban will be meaningless. You think most of those kids won't go down to the local eatery and get all the pork they want? Think Mama won't BRING it to them with much love? Besides, the pok we eat now is signigficantly leaner than we had in the past, and the loin chops really ARE the other white meat, as they are relatively lean, and most ofthe fat can be trimmed from around the outside of the chop. There is very little marbeling!
