Texas theater turns foul-mouthed customer complaint into hilarious #@%*! commercial

The Alamo Drafthouse is a small, quirky theater chain down in the Lone Star State. It has a strict policy against texting during movies. The rule is simple: Text during a movie and we’ll boot your butt out the door.

This is where the story starts to get funny. Really funny. ABC news the #@$%! details:

About a month ago, Tim League [Alamo House owner] says, a woman was thrown out of one of the chain’s 10 theaters for sending text messages — and retaliated by leaving an angry voice mail on the box office phone line. League said he thought it was so over-the-top that it was funny. They used it as the public service announcement they play before films to encourage people to keep quiet.

“The reaction has been huge,” League said in a telephone interview with ABC News. “People love it in the theater.”

Now if you could just buy a popcorn and a Coke without having to mortgage your house, life would be perfect.

NOTE: In the interest of full disclosure, we must point out that the Administrator has been banned from most of the theaters in our town after an unfortunate incident in which he jumped three rows in a theater to silence another patron who wouldn’t shut up during a movie.

  • Alamo draft house is famous dfor it PSA's. They even had a couple with Ann Richards. sauing if you talked in the movie, she would "take your ass out." She loved the place and requested making a PSA with them. Had the female in question had 2 operating brain cells she would have seen the multiple warnings about no phones or texting. Or maybe she would have caught a clue with the repeated staff interventions asking her to stop. Throwing her own was the last straw when nothing else worked. Moron.

    • Sometimes I still wish I lived in Texas! Stories like this make me homesick for the Lone Star State! Drive Friendly...Y'all!

  • I am a native New Mexican living in El Paso, so I do not consider myself a Texan. But man, we do have some damn nice things here!

  • Who is the penis-pimple talking head on the Communist News Network for the second Republican Debate??

  • WE interrupt this thread to tell you, that the Communist News Network has the 2nd Republican debate, from New Hampshire. 7P-10P ET.

  • I'd have paid good money to see Administrator leap over 3 rows of seats. Maybe we need a new IHTM Administrator Action Figure to combat the Obama doll. (Note that Administrator is an "action figure" and Obama is a 'doll.')

  • I wonder if this whiny little HaDIbaH has ever heard the saying,"Your rights end at my property line"?
Probably not, it's something REAL Texans say.

  • LOL what a dumb chick this one is. She feels she is entitled to do what ever she wishes in a theater. No manner and no couth is all you can say about lil miss smart mouth.

I know all the theaters here in KY including the one that is a draft house clearly put up "Be polite, turn off or silence your phone, no talking or texting and enjoy your movie."

  • I wasn't aware that it made a difference if you set your phone on silent, if you're only using it as a flashlight.

    • When I use the flashlight feature on my phone, it doesn't make any noise, whether the sound is turned down or not. She was obviously sitting there texting, with the lights on the screen on and flashing. She even said that she has texted in every other theater in town. So her flashlight story doesn't exactly hold water. I was pointing out the discrepancies in her story. And next time my lady and I are traveling through that part of Texas, we're going to go see a movie at the Drafthouse Theaters.

    • I'd think it would only matter because you're dumb 14 year old ass walked in really late and the lights were already turned down.
