The reason to get a truck is so that you can tow things and move heavy things. The more you load onto an EV, the less effective the EV is. Electric trucks make ZERO sense.
Almost hard to believe how stupid and useless this vehicle is. Like the guy says at the end, it's okay for driving around in as a regular car, comfortable and quiet, but absolutely useless as a truck. You'd be stopping every hour for a 45-minute recharge. Which would make for a very unproductive workday.
By the way, Tesla is pushing its new electric semi-tractor trucks. Can you imagine how much weight those things start out with just in batteries? Just guessing, I'm gonna say they'll come in at 50,000-60,000 pounds in order to have enough power to pull a truckload of cargo anywhere further than a mile away. That's 50,000-60,000 pounds before you even start loading. The federal weight limit is 80,000 pounds. Average load weight for a fully loaded trailer in U.S. is 40,000 to 50,000 pounds. So you will have to carry very light loads to stay within the federal weight limit, and I'm guessing your range will be pathetic even then. You might be able to get twenty or thirty thousand pounds across town before you have to recharge, but you won't be able to get on the expressway and go to another town. I can't believe Tesla is going ahead with this baloney, unless they plan on selling only to industrial plants that will ferry loads just within their own facilities. These things surely will not be capable of carrying long haul.
They claim 500 mile range, but we'll see.
Car haulers are already asking for the weight limit to be raised so they can haul more electric vehicles. They can't haul a full load due to the weight.
My wife is in the local trucking business. She envisions being forced to use electric trucks that will be able to drive 100 miles (if you're lucky), then she'll have to pay the crew to sit on their ass for who knows how long while it recharges.
It will also limit how many deliveries per day per crew and may force her to buy more trucks and hire more people to maintain the same level of service.
Gas bobtails are like $100k+ now. I can't imagine what the electric pieces of shit will cost.
Knowing California they'll figure out in short order that the extra weight is tearing the shit out of the roads and jack up fees for trucking companies to make up for it.

Has she heard anything about how much a Tesla electric truck is going to weigh? I am really curious to know, because the battery-pack must be ginormous.
They said that they would be allowed to weigh more than normal trucks because of the "environmental positive" they'd bring about. LOLOL ok.

Oh no way. An electric pickup adds more weight than that. They're lying. I bet they mean 2,000 pounds more before they add the batteries.
