Three guys build alternative Healthcare.gov over the weekend. For free. And it works. So what did taxpayers get for that $630 million we spent on the official government version? Other than lots of campaign donations to Obama?

  • A better substitute health care web site

I am only one guy, and I made my own my own alternative website for healthcare.gov (I think mine is a lot better, if I do say so myself).

    stevedhealthcare.com

Please try it out and let me know your thoughts. Thanks

    • Very nice. It's more comprehensive as far as the rates go, but you should include contact info for the insurance companies so that people could contact them to price the plans.
One question, my wife needs insurance, I don't. Would we use the "Single Adult No Kids" option?

  • And I bet they wrote the code in their spare time, using the website for dummies book that Kathleen refused to read.

    • And the dollar will be worth a yen is we are lucky. I can hardly get US grownfruit and veggies in San Antonio. They are grown in Mexico, or in the winter, imported from Chile. Gues no one has heard about that eat locally gowne, locally raised foods. The Rio Grande valley has hundreds of citrus farm, but ours ocme from California, Teas grws peaches, apples citrus, betties, but most of our fruit is from a California company, or Mexico. Hass avacados are over $1.00 a piece, even when in season. NAFTA has done nothing positive for the US, but its helped Mexico a bunch!

    • People need to forget being afraid and go straight to pissed.... do not pass go and do not collect $200.

    • The only thing I would question is what is the law in Massachusetts about taping phone calls? In Texas, only 1 person of the conversation has to know that the call is taped, so this would be legal. But if Massachusetts has any laws stating youhave to tell people you are recording them, then publishing the recorded message is the problem, not posting the public phone numbers. Any lawyer types to comment?

    • FTA:
" am not a fan of enacting new laws but we need some new laws in cases like this. The first law that should be passed is a law that says any public official who is speaking on a government phone has no expectation of privacy and any citizen may record them."

New laws shouldn't be needed because there's supposed to be an old one that was violated when the charges were filed in the first place in response to the video of the police investigation- it's called the Constitution and the fact that the matter has evolved to the further point is demonstration that:
1- The Constitution as a framework on which our legal code is based has been suspended or nullified
2- there's no respect for the rule of law on the part of government so what the hell good is a new law going to do?

I empathize with the sentiment expressed in the quoted passage but honestly, retrenching to rhetoric supposing that adding to the already bloated legal code is going to effect any meaningful change is itself a problem because it busies the system in something that will ultimately prove useless- burning time that could be spent pursuing meaningful and most importantly effective reforms founded on grass roots vigilance and verification because it should be abundantly clear to anyone with two or more working brain cells that the lackeys we insist on electing to power have no more respect for us than we require them to have....

      ****REGARDLESS OF PARTY AFFILIATION****

The discourse is all wrong in my opinion because so very much time and energy is spent discussing arguments and options that will only prove to br fruitless time wasters- ultimately enabling the same process to crimes against the republic and its citizenry to continue unabated. The already existing laws that are supposed to protect us need to be enforced THEN there will be NO F*CKING NEED FOR NEW LAWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NF!N!TE!!!!

Sorry about the soap box... do carry on...

      • I agree, Sticnkfoot. Iam totally against passing new laws, when all that is necessary is to follow and enforce current law. What is the point? It IS a waste of time and money and energy. And if you are not going to enforce the law on the books, then whose to say you will enforce the new law? Stupid.

  • Free enterprise on full display. These guys knew what they where doing. Too bad the other experts, couldn't wipe their asses with both hands.

  • I abjectly and objectively despise progressives - sorry dad, but that's the high and low of it. People who go out of their way to lie, prevaricate, deceive and dissemble are like the four horsemen of the apocalypse; sent by God, as the (His) destructive force of mankind's innate evil and sinful nature, as the result of original sin. Say what you will about purpose-built inoperability and inefficiency, that was always a means to an end -- that end being 'single payer,' or state-run health care. I'm glad to see that there were three enterprising young men who were able to show a workable design for a working website, for far less than 630 million tax-payer dollars, but this just shows what happens when you let politicians rule the roost because they have control of education, media, and the arts. Oh! And I almost forgot: control of the military, the bureaucracy, industry, and our medical care! I'm serious when I say, it's long past the time for taking the gloves off...these children, ruining things, need to be taken to the "House of Rocks" and stoned to death!

    • This IS the government of the $1000 hammer and $5000 toilet seat. Anything run through the government will cost more and likely not work as well as anything in the private sector. That predates the recent administrations by about 150 years. One would think as we became smarter and more "sophisticated" that we could have put a stop to it, but no one cares, because it isn't directly out of their pockets. It is a figure on a page of figures with so many zeros that the number is incomprehensible.

      • Yeah, I know just what you mean sa_rose; my eyes glaze over and I begin to slobber when I see more than three zeroes attached to any number.

  • Wow , looks like someone read and passed that coarse " Web Building for Dummies " !!!!

Just like the Liberals failing the life coarse called " Morality for Humans ".

More proof that wasting other peoples money and efforts on Low Intelligence and Low Morality is always a waste .

    • This is based on the premise that the intent was to have a working site- what the kids demonstrated was that IF this was an objective it was easily attainable. The point was to find another excuse to frivolously torch another $630 million without the benefit of any return on it.... and it was sent to a company based in Quebec to boot.
