Tamara Lee Mason wanted to play Yahtzee, but now her sons may get Life. (Get it? It was a play on the name of the board game called Life. Damn it. We hate it when we have to explain ‘em.)
But let’s get back to the story as told by the Minneapolis Star Tribune:
Tamara Lee Mason wanted to play Yahtzee with her three sons after they all returned home from Christmas dinner at a friend’s. When the boys wouldn’t, she got mad, grabbed a few things and stormed out of the house.
Well, that may be the story the three sons are telling, but police aren’t buying it. They say Dylan Clemens, 25 and his half-brothers Andrew Cobb, 18, and Jacob Cobb, 17, committed matricide.
Mason’s decomposing remains were found Thursday buried in the back yard of her home in Alberta, a town of about 130 people in far western Minnesota.
The charges said Jacob Cobb strangled his mother on the living room floor. Then he or his brother Andrew put a plastic bag over her head and tightened a belt around her neck. Clemens allegedly drove her body west to South Dakota, then east to Glenwood, Minn., before storing the corpse in a garbage can in a shed for months until the ground thawed enough for the two elder brothers to bury it.
To repeat: they strangled her, then put a plastic bag over her head and tightened a belt around her neck.
Dylan said, “Mom always said that a job worth doing is a job worth doing right.”
OK, he didn’t really say that but we kind of wish he had.

Too bad. Maybe the older brother had nothing to do with it, but just tried to deal with it. The younger ones are troubled or perhaps they had reason to be angry with their mom. Hope it gets sorted out. Too bad lives are ruined.
Yeah, MOM's life was ruined! I don't care how bad a mom is, you can always walk away from it when you're grown. No excuses.
Winters in Minnesota are long and cold so maybe these poor darling orphans had cabin fever. In South Dakota we have a cure for that fever: sodium thiopental, with a chaser of pancuronium and a nightcap of potassium chloride.
Texas has a similar cure! And we use it freely because it is soooooo effective. Never had a second case in the same person!
True, it takes care of recidivism issues for that person for sure.
And if that were the ONLY good thing about the death penalty, it would be enough for me.

As a Mother of 3 you can understand my concern about stories like these, though I believe I raised mine better than this. On the other hand, I have seen Mothers that more than deserved being murdered by ANYONE just to free their children. Guess I need to hear a little more about Mom before coming down on these guys. If she was a relatively normal Mom, then they should fry. But if she was some psychotic bitch who raised them to be serial killer material, well then she got what she deserved!
Problem is, we're left holding the bag!
Right... in the end we are still going to foot the bill for their imprisonment and if they were welfare kids that means we have been paying for most of their lives... Ugh...
Best to pull the plug on their miserable excuses for a life now, than to keep them alive for another few decades.

Going by the mugshots, these fine, upstanding members of society had a stellar family life, and while there is no excuse for what they did, there's probably a whole lot more to this story. Like, for example, how come in a town of 130, nobody missed this woman until well after the spring thaw?
