NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Transportation Security Administration said it decided to fire a screener at New Jersey's Newark Airport who left a handwritten note in a female passenger's luggage after finding a personal item inside.
See above. I heard that on the news after I wrote the first post. Wonder why it wasn't in the article?
Update 10/27/11: After working with our Office of Chief Counsel and Privacy Office, we have been cleared to say the following: TSA has completed its investigation of this matter, and has initiated action to remove the individual from federal service. Like all federal employees, this Transportation Security Officer is entitled to due process and the protections embodied in the Privacy Act. Pending the completion of the removal action, the employee will not perform any screening duties. ***

Why was he searching her bag to beginwith? If nothing was seen on x-ray that looked like a bomb, then the bag should have been returned to its owner untouched. Its none of their business what OTHER things may be in the bag. THis shows the quality of people being hired by SA-and not the article says he was removed from that job and disciplined. nothing about being fired.

I still am a proponent of the Israeli method of screening. First, you profile the hell out of people, then you subject them to further screening.
