When I first read the term ‘Twinkie Deconstructed’
I thought it was a book about Rahm, Geithner, or Obama. Still, it’s humorous that someone can go through all the work to analyze Twinkies, and not succumb to temptation like I just did.

I heard it said once if there was a nuclear war, the only things that would survive would be cockroaches and twinkies due to their preservatives...great billions of cockroaches on a sugar high....Kinda like friday night at 7-11
I heard 4 things will survive a thermonuclear war, Grass, Cockroaches, Twinkies, and Keith Richards.
Grass, you mean cannabis, correct? Otherwise Keith will go quite mad.
Nope, plain old Kentucky Blue Grass, although I'm sure the other one would survive as well. But not to worry about Keith, I'm sure he'll find something to snort, wondering if he finished snorting his father.

Maybe the recent brain surgery will improve his decision making abilities!
Keith is looking pretty good in that picture -- whoever is his makeup artist deserves an emmy for making him look like he's actually alive.
Yeah, lol!
For an uninformed Old Goat, currently resident in the wilds of France, what the hell's a "Twinkie"?
AAAAAAAHHHHHH (gasp!!!) YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A TWINKIE? How long have you been a prisoner in France? It is a commercially made sponge cake shaped like a submaring and filled with creme filling. Everything in it is processed and the shelf life is oh I don't know 500 years or so? Highly addictive. First seen in the 30's. fiorst they had strawberry filling, then banana creme, then during the 2nd world war when bananas hard to come by, they went to the basic vanilla creme filling. Fried twinkies were invented in the Texas State fail and have since migrated across the country.
Yes, the 'State Fails', at the vanguard of western civilization's culinary achievements. Gotta love them.
"Look, mommy, a real, live meth head is dumping processed food in boiling oil!"
If you can't laugh, what can you do? My favorite line about a state fair is from that Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, 'State Fair':
"It's dollars to doughnuts at our state fair
It's the best state fair.. in our state"
Uhm, that would be the *only* state fair in the state, so I suppose that's why it wins that particular competition.
Weirdly enough, twinkies, a food that contains essentially none of what we need to survive (with an appalling filling that is soooo good, but leaves you with a weird taste in the mouth) is legal in the US, but those cool chocolate eggs with the toys in them that are so popular in europe are considered too dangerous for human consumption, and people have to smuggle them into the states.
Go figure.
When nanny states collide, nothing can make sense.

Now I gotta buy some! I can taste 'em now. That'll be my tailgate today.. Twinkies and cold milk! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
C'mon man! If you ever entered a food store or convenience store in the US in the last 50 years you couldn't actually miss the prominence of the Hostess display and always right on top the old 2 pak of golden tube cakes with the 'cream' filling! No way! I guess they're single paks now, not sure but don't matter...
Send your United Parcel Service/FedEx address to the masters of IHTM and I'll cash in enough beer cans to cover the cost of shipping and a box of Twinkies for you. Their 96% preservative chemical makeup renders them a sweet though hardly nutritious survival ration. In the big country of the Europe you might elevate your status with a box of 24 of them.
Oh you poor fool.. it's part of the food pyramid man!
Just bustin' yer chops, Natsman. Mmm... you really don't know about Twinkies? Wow!
You do not deconstruct a twinkie, you DESTROY them
Yes, right after you've had them deep-fat fried over at the Iowa State Fair.
Tasty, yet nasty. Not something you eat everyday...
Or at the Texas state fair, or just save time and go to any Plucker's restaurant ( I use the term loosely) in Texas and beyond!
I think it was the late, great Archie Bunker who said that Twinkies were white people's soul food.
I think you meant twinks, not twinkies.
./= Twinkie and The Brain, Twinkie and The Brain, One of 'ems a genius, the other one's insane. ./=
Just trying to figure out who in that administration is guilty of having a brain, so that song would be applicable. No fears of a Zombie Apocalypse in the WH. They'd starve right away, the crisis would be over in ten minutes.
There's stuff in food we eat that's mined?!?!?
Yes. One of them is called "salt."
Oh, to diverge slightly: There is a comic strip called "Over The Hedge" (which spawned a dreadful movie); it appears on the GoComics site. It's usually pretty good, largely non-political. One of the animals, throughout the strip's history, has been addicted to Twinkies, and the real-world Twinkie Catastrophe of 2012, are being followed closely in the strip!
"Daddy, what's polysorbate 60?"
"One more than polysorbate 59. Now be quiet and eat your Twinkie."
