"These people" are the Marxists that wrote the background papers for the UN IPCC during the pre Kyoto Agreement drafting days. I've been told that if we took the trillions that world+dog religious, NGO, and governmental organization ever sent to Africa, every man, woman, child there would still be ... poverty stricken -- because the problem is population, culture, and very, very, very bad governance.
No amount of handouts would ever solve the problem of people living in squalor thanks to their tolerating such horrible leaders. Not even "fair trade" coffee is going to fix that. They have to want to make the change.

The UN really needs to go away anyway, it has it roots in the defunct League Of Nations, which was Woodrow Wilson's wet dream, & provides little in the way of return on investment.
