UN tells Canada to develop plan to stop violence against aboriginal women. Canada says, “Up yours, UN. We don’t take advice on human rights from places like Iran, Cuba, and Sri Lanka.” (Okay, okay, we’re paraphrasing.)

Violence against anyone should not be tolerated, however the UN doesn't have a moral high ground here. However Canada should do whatever it must to protect its citizens no matter who.
You are not wrong, but from what I have been told, much of the violence among aboriginal/1st nations/Indians (pick your term) has a couple of root causes. Gangs & alcohol. Those 2 things are major factors in crime in general among Canadian aboriginals, & that was told to me last year in Canada last year by a Canadian aboriginal who works in the Canadian corrections system while I was in Winnipeg to do an Iron Maiden gig. He deals with the sh!t all the time, & says getting rid of the culture of violence that some are in a cycle of is going to be the biggest challenge to improving life in their community. From the news stories I have seen, he's right.

Seriously? The UN is so perfect that they can start preaching human rights to someone like Canada? How about they start with Ghanna? Oh, they can't because it might embarass Kofi Annan.
Actually, Ghana is one of the BETTER places in Africa. Been there on the ships. About the only place you didn't have the constant need to keep your hand on your wallet.

When the hell are countries like Canada, England, Australia, and especially the US going to tell the UN to GFYS. The hypocrisy, idiocy, and phoniness of these blowhards is mind boggling. That any of us spend ten cents on these worthless assholes is criminal. But then our current administration is criminal and so is 99% of congress.

What needs to happen is for the playing field to be leveled by increasing the degree of violence against all other groups to match the level of violence against aboriginal women. Since we cannot effect this all at once across the board I propose we begin by defining politicians as a separate demographic and starting with them.
