After everything is said and done, UPS clears about $5 billion a year. If they're going to start sending spouses to Obamacare, what are the companies who clear less than $5 billion a year going to do?
Remember the ad against Romney where the union guy 'blamed' Romney for the death of his wife after Romney closed the plant the guy worked at and they lost their insurance. Never mind the story was complete BS.

Not to worry. UPS is Teamster country. Surely they can put a call in to the WH and get UPS shut down for racial discrimination or something.
To be fair, they're only cutting them off if they have insurance available at their job.
How they will find this out, I don't know.
My employer put this policy into place five years ago. Pisses a lot of people off at the lower levels where it is often a $200 or $300 hit per month. How they find out is that everyone is required to sign off on a statement confirming whether or not a spouse has access to health insurance through his or her employee. No one is going to lie and risk termination.
My wife had insurance at her current employer, but no spouse option. They are a small company and a non-profit. They cancelled all insurance and will not be offering it again.
All they would have to do is ask the IRS.
