Don't immediately think: "Oh, West Point, smartest person in the room!" Some of these guys are as dumb as stones, but their uniforms make up for what they lack between their ears. The best of the best are leaving the ranks and getting away from this human torch called 'The Man Child," or should I call him the human pile of shit because everything this dull-turd touches turns to shit! Of course the military leaders, even the ones who aren't quite so bright, are embarrassed by this Kenyan idiot and maybe enough to foment a real military rebellion, but there I go pipe dreaming again.
Some great men have come out of West Point, but you're right, the degree is not a guarantee of smarts... or bravery. When my father landed at Normandy he was the lowest form of lieutenant, an "emergency" officer they trained on the quick because he did well on an IQ test, but as the days went by the West Point regular Army officers above him kept thinking up excuses to go to the rear... to get stuff... to check on stuff... to carry information... etc. Some of the excuses were utterly lame and none of them ever came back. Finally a general came crawling along to find out why my father's company had managed to advance further than any other company. Everybody else was pretty much stalled. The general asked, "Who's in charge here?" and my dad answered, "I am." "Well, where the fuck is everybody else?" That's when Dad became a captain, right there lying on the ground next to a general (himself a West Pointer to be fair) who spent five solid minutes swearing and insulting the ancestry of the officers who left.
That's one of my favorite stories. Another one is when Dad was scouting forward while his men rested and he got so far in front of everybody else he had Germans behind him and in front of him. Oops. Crawling back to his own company he almost got shot by his own guys.
JP, if your father is still around please give him my regards, most sincere thanks, and buy him a drink for me.
Hell, send me the address and I will send the money for the drink. Better accept Euros though.
He's around. 94 and counting. He's not supposed to drink anymore because he had some stomach problems last year but every once in a while I catch him sneaking my whiskey. Until he was in his 60s he never talked about the war. Then he started going to 83rd Infantry Division reunions and after that he wouldn't stop talking about it.
He's not all that negative about people who ran away, by the way. He says you have to experience infantry war before you can appreciate what it's like. He and one of his friends watched a German artillery pattern one day and realized it was working its way toward them - the Germans are nothing if not methodical. They ran to a different location and then watched an artillery shell land in the hole they were occupying thirty seconds earlier. The friend immediately stood up and started running to the rear and never stopped - my dad never saw him again until after the war. It was simply his breaking point. Something snapped when he saw his previous hole obliterated. My dad never held it against him and they were still friends after the war.
I hope you wrote these stories down. It needs to be a book. A man like that should have a biography. I would buy it. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Feed him whiskey, get him talking, and record his stories.
Too damn few left, and the truth/history dies with 'em.
The books give us the overall picture, the troops give us the real story.
Oh, Man...that was a TU. my apologies.
No they will not. It will have to leak out from those who are not protecting their military careers.
Please some one change the record, tape or cd. It is fricking stuck and I've got a screaming headache from the babble.
Quagmire's hell bent on getting that Saudi Pipeline built, and refuses to listen to the military professionals who advise against it. He kind of reminds me of a certain Bavarian Corporal back in the 40's.
That's particularly disturbing coming from the W. Post, a usually-reliably left-wing sourse, I mean to say, I would be somewhat suspicious of such a story in the W. Times which cited primarily unverifiable and unnamed sources. This though is good news, at least in the sense that the Collaborationist Media's firewall around Him is starting to give way, and maybe that some military advisors will start supplying some brutal but necessary advice.
Sideways to this, the tizzy going on in Hollyweird is hilarious, and not just Ed (commie bastid) Asner, the hand wringing is valley-wide it looks like
Ed Asner: Hollywood wont ‘get off its ass’ on Syria; they ‘don’t want to feel anti-black’ http://tinyurl.com/m6hktl5
And coming soon to a milk carton near you
"John Ekdahl sounds the alarm: highly principled, anti-war Hollywood celebrities are missing and we fear the worst " http://tinyurl.com/mcmlxqh
They're still regretting Bush's Iraq war and don't want another one of those.
You make me want to bring the draft back.
LOL
Perhaps our little itty bitty brained Crowley could "enlist" in the Salvation army, he could start as a Captain and get to ring his own bell on a street corner...away from the keyboard.....
The poor and disenfranchised have a lot of issues and problems. Springing it on them is just inhumane and unusual punishment.
He would fail the physical.
He'd be 4F. I don't even think you could find him a job in the Civil Air Defense.
lol, is the Civil Air Patrol still around?
I don't know Ghost. It was when I was in high school and that's about the last time I paid attention to it.
Hadn't thought of it since I was in school either til I saw it up there.
If they still exist, maybe we could get them to drop Crowley out of a plane sans parachute.
Are we assuming that it is smart enough to pull the thing after it jumps?
No, but why take the chance?
True... true.
This is what happens when the country is fooled into electing someone that thinks they are very smart.
I voted for Ron Paul.
Thank you for helping elect Obama.
Ron Paul would have won if he wasn't censored. So thank Romney for helping elect Obama.
and we have circledback to the beginning of the non arguement. Ron Paul is an idiot, there is no gold to steal and the creep still lives in the cave under the bridge..
No he has a double wide in Connecticut, right next to the medical pot/cheetos/beer store.....No cave would let him in, he is true trailer park trash now.
Shut the fuck up bitch.
Team BO - doing for world peace what they've done for the US economy. Where do I go to sign up to emigrate to Mars?
