US Military rescues Iranian sailors, again

Six Iranians were rescued from an Iranian cargo ship, fed halal meals in accordance with Islamic law, and later taken to shore by American Coast Guard patrol boat in the north Persian Gulf. Second rescue of Iranians in two weeks. In the meantime, the Iranians sentence an American ex-Marine to death for “spying.” You’re welcome.

  • What seems to be ignored here is that many, if not a majority of, Iranians are sympathetic to US overtures and would willingly dispatch Ahmadinejad if they were free to speak their minds. Further, the rescued sailors' story may never make the Iranian press, but they will tell their story to all their friends and hopefully dispel some of the myths about Americans promoted by their government, even if on a very small scale.

The Marine who went to Iran did so to visit his grandmothers. He should have known the dangers, and I'm sure he did, but I would have done the same thing if I was in the region and had never met them.

    • Yes, there are a lot of Iranians sympathetic to the US. That and six bucks will get you a latte. Our feckless leader had a chance to support those people when they were protesting, and he was AWOL -- while encouraging muslim brotherhood hoods in Egypt and elsewhere about the region. Methinks he hates moderates, as this was the *only* instance in recent memory where a muslim society tried to swing back from oppressive fundamentalism.

There is so much oppression in that country -- you have no idea. More likely, the sailors got to go home to their families, and will now be 'disappeared', having been contaminated by Western Ideas. Odds are good that half their families will disappear, too. The only lesson here is that you underestimate homicidal psychopathic death-cult members at your own peril -- and there should be no surprise in that.

Any hopes in a practical swing away from madness in Iran has to be powered by the same unicorn farts that led a marine interpreter to think he'd be safe if he stopped by gramma's house in Iran.

  • fuck them all! another shit waste of time and manpower. fuck the halal shit! give us our marine back first you god damn pieces of shit, and then we'll be your "friends"...

  • While I truly hope the Marine survives the ordeal, I can't help but wonder why on earth anyone from the US would enter that country. Same with the idiots that were "hiking".

    • He was visiting relatives.

It is so predictable that this would happen that I'd darned near call what's happening "natural causes" -- there are some countries that I will not visit, even though I have kin there. They can come here.

The equations' simple. If they come here, they are safe -- and if I go there, I have a great big target on my back. Even if their friends and neighbors will try to protect me, that is a cold comfort while I'm being 'disappeared', knowing full well that as a non-person in Barry's world, nobody's going to do anything to save me.

  • Enough with this halal crap. Feed them the same fair that is being fed to the American crew. Afterall, if the iranians rescued an American, he would be offerred iranian gruel. Nothing like a BLT on toast.

    • That's a very sad story, FDH. But the killers will of course be well accepted in the Islamic prison groups. They are well honored in the eyes of Mohammed.

    • Do you think we'd get a fair hearing if we decided to kill a bunch of treasonous bastards, who happen to be in power right now, in an effort to restore our national honor?

      • Hello Hisham!!! Glad to have you back! :) Actually this greeting is over due because I didnt know if it was you, or a new poster of the same name. "Doth my eyes decieve me? " sorta thing...

        Anyways, I'm glad your back!

      • you know how the guards surround the defendant and the defendant has body armor? You Wouldn't get one and you'd be prosecuted in NYC, and you'd be taken on foot past an ows camp when bloomie would call the cops back to help him shine his shoes. And the media'd be sure your face got center screen whilst blurrin' the images of the owsers.

  • The iranian people will never hear this story because their ''media'' will not report a story thats make their leader look bad, hummm

      • that would just lower us to their level. killing and kidnapping are hallmarks of the muslims, historically.

        • "that would just lower us to their level. killing and kidnapping are hallmarks of the muslims, historically."

I am not being snarky here Robert, but please explain how that is any different than the Crusaders wiping out villages and cities in the Middle East in the name of God? Seriously, I really wonder what makes it any different.

          • I hereby pronounce you free to go and kick the ass of any Crusader you find. Go ahead, they deserve it according to today's standards. Then, for comparison's sake, go try that with a muslim.

          • LOL Perlcat... I don't do much butt-kicking these days but both my Christian and Muslim aquaintences would laugh at the very idea.

          • Yeah, the "Crusaders did bad things" trope gets a little under my skin. A whole lot has changed since then. We are not the same people as our distant ancestors, who left plenty of blood descendants in the Middle East, so even they can't claim that they did not benefit from the Crusades.

          • the crusades were started to stop the spread of muslims and protect the christians who'd been subjugated by the caliphate.

          • "the crusades were started to stop the spread of muslims and protect the christians who’d been subjugated by the caliphate."

Not entirely true... loss of economic power in Constantinople and, later, Jerusalem made it about money... the Catholic church had huge investments in the Middle East even then and didn't want to risk losing out to Muslims. These cities were equally holy to Christians, Jews and Muslims, and fighting over them was more about economics than faith.

          • again, a controversial subject.

"...on the basis of contemporary Jewish Cairo Geniza documents, as well as later Muslim accounts, Moshe Gil argues that the Seljuq conquest and occupation of Palestine (c. 1073–1098) was a period of "slaughter and vandalism, of economic hardship, and the uprooting of populations".[20] Indeed, drawing upon earlier writers such as Ignatius of Melitene, Michael the Syrian had recorded that the Seljuqs subjected Coele-Syria and the Palestinian coast to "cruel destruction and pillage." wiki

        • Actually, I think leaving them in the water and laughing while they drowned would be more in that vein. I am not interested in hurting them, just using them as bargaining chips.

    • I agree. Their media is no better than ours. The people hear what the regime wants them to hear. The difference is that our media pukes do it willingly and their media pukes (sorry it's an automatic reflex when I type/say the word) do it or else.

  • WTF is an American "Coast Guard" ship doing in the Persian Gulf serving halal meals? I thought it was NASA's job to "reach out" to the Muslim world.

    • Actually, I believe it is the USAF Missle Command that is supposed to reach out to the Muslim world. ;-)

    • What does the Space Administration have to do with rescue operations on the high seas? The U.S. Coast Guard, out oldest military organization, has always served with the Navy during times of conflict. Search and rescue operations, small boat patrols, international law enforcement, all come under the Coast Guard umbrella. I'm proud to say I was a Coastie, I'm proud of the kids serving today.

      • Well said whiskey... and they have halal meals aboard because some American citizens, who happen to also be Muslims, are serving as active-duty members of the US Coast Guard, as well as Navy, Marines, Army and Air Force.

        • at least until they start to have qualms about going to war against other muslims and then go on a murder spree ending with suicide or turning coat and runnin off to help the enemy of my nation.

          • Of course that could happen but remember that same concern was expressed about Native American soldiers in the War of 1812, African-American soldiers in the Civil War, and the Japanese soldiers during WWII. While there were some few aberrations, for the most part these soldiers demonstrated admirable loyalty to the US.

          • Yes, for the most part.

The last exception, whose obvious signs of imbalance and hostility to the US were deliberately ignored due to asinine liberal policies took advantage of his knowledge of where armed service personnel would be most vulnerable due to asinine liberal policies, and slaughtered them.

If the various branches of the services cannot effectively police their ranks of obvious wackos because of their 'protected' status, then having them in the military is by definition problematic.

      • Well, NASA is supposed to be Barry's new muslim reacharound program.

It is interesting that the CG is out there in other parts of the world. I never knew that -- I had always assumed that their mandate was to patrol our coasts, enforcing US laws in US territorial waters. I can see where they would be helpful in other parts of the world, and would not force the Navy to duplicate their role, as "law enforcement" and "blow things up" aren't necessarily the same task*.

        * -- however, I know some law enforcement people that have a more 'fuzzy' distinction there. Fun guys, but a little dangerous.

  • Good for us!

This is simply the heaping of hot coals on Ahmadinejad's head and it still doesn't change the fact that Iranians should learn the term, "Incoming!" if they don't already know it.

  • Of course this is how it has to work. They need not thank us for saving their people or having halal prepared eats for them at the ready since allah provides for his own and obviously is the ONLY reason the MREs weren't pork based. Why would there be any consideration for any American dog anyway? Because we treat their people like people? What fairy tale do we think we live in, Allah in Wonderland?

      • Erm, not to be a fussbudget, but this is a sensitive point with me. Regardless of what Mohammed may have done with the original concept, "Allah" is indeed the Arabic word for "God," no asterisks or footnotes necessary. Arabic Christians call Him "Allah" too. I am not an Arab, but I belong to one of the Eastern Orthodox churches which comes from the Arab countries. They still use Arabic liturgically, and I can tell you quite emphatically that in church, I hear the name "Allah" with great frequency - of course, along with the Arabic words for "Father," "Son," and "Holy Spirit."

Etymylogically, "Allah" is related to the Hebrew name "El," and is even more aking to the Aramaic word "Eli," which Christ Himself uttered from the Holy Cross.

So please, don't try to mock the Mohammedans by abuse of the name "Allah" because that's not what you're doing.

        Mohammed, PBUH
(Piss be upon him) is fine though!

        • Exactly Dad. I get yelled at everytime I say this, but Allah IS God. Our GOd, the GOd of Jews and Christians. It is Mohammed's delusions and lies about our relationship with God that is at fault, not God.

          • Sorry Rose, I must disagree. When I think of God, I think of the Great I AM.
For some English speaking people, when they say god it is just an expression. vain words.
I agree with PD but when a muslim uses Allah, it is not to the God the christian arabic speaker would mean.

the muslim god is a false god, rewarmed condensed polytheism and the roots of muslim religious symbols precedes mohammed by centuries.

          • The God, Allah is the same. What Islam has attributed to him is not. Nor is the expectation of behaviour to honor God. That's where a lot of pre-Islam, pre civilization stuff got woven in over time.

          • "Allah, the Moon-God is a controversial view about Islam, put forth by some scholars and some Christian groups[4][5][6], in which it is claimed that the Islamic deity Allah has pre-Islamic pagan roots stemming from local mythology. According to this view, the chief deity of pre-Islamic Mecca "was the moon-god called al-ilah (meaning the god or the idol), which was shortened to Allah in pre-Islamic times" wiki

It is controversial. I'm showing what I believe to be the differences.

"It is believed that Allah sent Mohammad to do the job of prophet. Mohammad is believed to be superior to Jesus. Jesus is viewed as just a prophet, not a redeemer. So, who is the true "God", Mohammad's or Jesus'? There is only one God; it isn't Mohammad's. But, Mohammad is God's whether Mohammad knew it or not, or at least had the chance to be God's.

To deny Jesus is to deny God."

        • Well, context is everything. In its origin language, Ba'al happens to mean "Lord" -- but you won't see me shouting out praises for baal in church anytime soon. (For example, take the roots of Beelzebub, AKA "lord of the flies", Elijah's insult and what's now in the vernacular as a common term for a devil -- the Beel part means lord, and the z'bub is about flies.)

In the islamic context, they would refuse to admit that the Christian Lord has any connection to their deity, or is even a valid deity -- and that road goes both ways.

          • Actually, Christians and Jews are called "people of the book" and (theoretically) are supported in Islam. Mohammed co opted all of the old and new testaments, and recognizes the prohets, etc. He considered Jesus a great prohet, just not the Messiah, nor the Incarnate God. The recent attitudes are actually in conflict with Mohammeds original intent. But he stillwanted everyone to recognze the HE was the last great prophet, so everyone should convert tio Islam.

          • KORAN [9.30] And the Jews say: Uzair [Ezra] is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!

HADITH Sahih Bukhari [4:52:176] Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:
Allah's Apostle said, "You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, 'O 'Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.' "

          • Note that even that name has the "el" sound inherent in it. The fact remains though, that "Allah" is the common Arabic word, or name, of "God," and is shared by Orthodox and Catholic Christians who speak Arabic, the Copts as well, probably any Protestants too, along with the Mohammedans. Remembersometime last year, I think it was Indonesia or Malaysia, they wanted a law to =prevent= non-Muslims from using the name "Allah"? Claiming it as their own is just another of their conceits.

You can Google up an Antiochian Orthodox church in your area, or a Catholic Melkite or Maronite church, and ask any priest or deacon handy for a quick lesson in Arabic.
