Virginia moves closer to creating state’s own currency. “Lawmakers in Virginia say they want to keep their options open in case the value of the U.S. dollar ever collapses…” It’s as if they don’t trust the hackers at the Fed or something…

Better off to stick with barter, then the parasites get nothing.
Haven't you heard? They are taxing barter.

Yeah, but PROVING the barter happened is gonna be a little tough to prosecute.
Make them out of tobacco leaves backed by gold.
What are they going to call it? The Virgin?
What are they going to call it? The Virgin?
Only until it's been used the first time.
Florida will probably just use oranges and grapefruit as currency.
Actually, I think this is a good idea, it would be one step in making each state it's own commonwealth, and eventually country.
Utah already has it, I think. Also Amazon (the retailer) has it's own currency of sorts, which is not such a bad idea as they reach across state and even national boundaries and could function as part of a substitute exchange mechanism. If they could get together with the eBays and other such entities (maybe the states themselves), they could replace a large part of the monetary system, as least as far as buying/selling/trading is concerned. If the dollar does collapse, the market may find ways to adapt.
I agree poppajoe49. Virginia is already a commonwealth. One of only 4.
Should currency ever have other common usages?
You mean like people rolling up a bill & using to snort coke?
