Was Trayvon Martin a Drug Dealer? More about Trayvon. Eventually perhaps all the facts good, bad or indifferent will come out, no thanks to the mainstream media’s skewed reporting.

I dropped my daughter off to her high school today and as usual I saw many white, black and brown kids with hoodies on. It was a cool morning so this is what many kids like to wear on days like this. They prefer a hoodie over a jacket, even when its cold. If anyone on here says they have never seen a white teen with a hoodie on I will say thats a lie. So is it correct to assume that whites can wear it without being suspicious but blacks can't. Ignorance at its best. When I went to school I smoked weed with many white teens and that hasn't changed with todays teens. I have drug tested many kids for jobs black n white that came back positive for weed. Does that mean they are thugs or menace to society? I think not, some of them smoke to appear cool. You can't group all black men into the same category. To say ALL black guys are the same is wrong. The ones who are trying to make something of themselves have it hard because of somebodies preconceptions of them. How about judging me because of a charater flaw that I personally have and not by a whole people. I can't blame all for the actions of a few.
One wonders if media bias and even corruption will soon become a big story in the death of Martin.
Nah, the media would only cover that if it was Fox being biased towards a conservative.
Seriously?
Why are these accusations being made without corroboration from the police investigators? It seems that someone is letting rumor and innuendo rule here, and that is no better than the misdirection being comitted by the MSM with the picture of Trayvon at age 13 or so.
I wish the speculation would be kept under wraps until the police are able to finish the investigation and let them put out the info.
Apologies to good cops for being hit with splattered paint from this assessment, and i know they can't be everywhere BUT and this is as big a but as oprah's, if the cops had been out doing their job, i.e. to protect and serve, then maybe, just maybe this incident would not have occurred. What p's me off is nobody seems to be coming down on the bounty I've heard has been offered on Z's head.
If this neighborhood is in such a state that they need citizen's on patrol, then neither the cops, mayor, parents. preachers, rabbis, teachers, nor community organizers have been very effective in propagating community safety, NOR application of laws on the books, OH yeah, i'll include all the justice system in this, esp. pd's who more often than not know their clients are guilty but will lie and manipulate the facts to get them off.
There is a point where shame ought to be on the overall community for allowing this type of bottom-line disrespect for other human beings to go on. The Stand your ground law seems a good one to me. from a distance, a better law, in fact a law I personally think should be enacted and enforced everywhere in my country would be: As ye would have others do to you, so shalt thou do unto others.
Let's be honest...even if this didn't happen Trayvon would have ended up dead or in jail anyway by taking a glimpse into his lifestyle. A mother will never be honest and admit her son is a thug even if pictures, twitter usernames, twitter posts, attire, etc. show that he clearly is.
My son recently turned 18, posts the same kind of stuff, smokes weed, wears hoodies and has a tattoo. He's also going to NYU to study Physics in the fall. I also has a Filipino kid as an intern that dressed like that when I worked for UPenn who had straight A's in college.
Boggles the mind that this article is having the opposite effect that it should have: you can't judge a book by its cover.
I just want to say that I agree Phillypops.
You have no way to know that. I have known many young people who start bad and end up being good citizens. Many parents of real thugs do not fight this hard to get the truth from the police. Even if she is in denial, she obviously believe her son did not deserve to die on the streets and she deserves the truth no matter where it leads. All that she asked was for an investigation she cannot be denied that.
Joe, let's not slag his mother. All we know about her is that no matter what the truth is, is that this is a woman out of her mind with grief at having to bury her child, so maybe we can spare her some compassion.
How can you say that? For all we know Trayvon could have ended up being a doctor or something and a pillar of the community.
Ugh, so tired of this story. Let's wait for the Grand Jury decision.
I am going to have to agree with this post even though I don't necessarily agree 100% with your others. I don't have the energy to keep debating the same issue over and over again. I am hoping this story goes away and the machinations of justice continue to work behind the scenes. We have beat this story to death perhaps we can move on to more Obama bashing that makes me happy while I figure out how to afford to live my life.
I had heard most of what was in this article the other day . As more and more knowledge comes forth , reality and fantasy will get closer and closer to one another . For those of us that are simply looking for the truth , its going to get here sooner or later . For those that have an image of Martin based on what they perceive to be normal , all I can say is " we can ignore reality , but reality will NEVER ignore us ."
As stated before , if Zimmerman has commited a crime , and he may well have , he's going to get whats coming . For those that thirst for blood or more violence , this may never be over , as its blood and not justice that they want . If they wanted justice , it would be an everyday desire .
There are great , moral folks in every community that long for justice , fairness and goodness . On the otherhand there are those that give at best , lip service to this idea . In the article , If you look at Martins postings of his Twitter account , which gives a glimpse of the life he led , and then to hear others say , this was a bright young man with a bright future , my only thought was someone is seriously out of touch . I've seen many people that have risen above their circumstances and made a life worth something . Trayvon's Twitter postings suggest a lifestyle that does not point to a future much different than those around him . GOD is ABLE to do anything with anyone , but for those that continue to say there was a bright future here , is mostly speaking of want and not reality .
My heart REALLY goes out to Trayvon's parents and family . This can be nothing but hard . I WANT justice to be served here , no matter what the outcome . Lets hope its found .
A lot of you ask "what does this change?". Well, it proves the media is totally biased and has an agenda for one. It proves there is very strong anti-white sentiment in this nation. It proves that the black community jumps to conclusions and makes up their mind regardless of facts that come out later or before a trial is held. It proves that racism is one of the most exaggerated things in this country (because Zimmerman correctly identified him as a thug). It proves that stereotypes can be true many times...photos of him fantasizing and acting like Tupac with gold teeth as well have surfaced. It proves just how skewed the media is and that it's not to be trusted. I for one make fun of people with conspiracy theories normally...but this example is so obvious. The media is NOT showing the pictures of him with no shirt on flipping off the camera wearing a skull cap, baggy jeans sagging with his boxers showing. They are NOT showing the pictures of blunts on his twitter account from his friends. They are NOT showing the tweets that say he swung at a bus driver. If it acts like a duck and quacks like a duck...it is a duck. And the media is saying that's false.
No Zimmerman did not correctly identified him as a thug because he had no weapon, no drugs and no tools of thievery. He assumed he was a thug because he was wearing a hoodie, he "looked" suspicious and he had a suspicious bulge. Even though Martin shouldn't have punched Zimmerman why was Zimmerman alone with Martin when Zimmerman should have gone to meet the cops? In fact since he lost Martin that was the perfect opportunity to go and meet the cops as he was told and IF Martin "came back for him" as you stated, that was THE PERFECT opportunity to drive away and meet the cops instead of staying and confronting Martin about his suspicious behavior.
as usual, the media tries, but fails to hide the truth, in order to foment violence, hate, and divide the USA. This is a glaring example of why we should all march on the mainstream media HQ's with pitchforks and torches and demand they all quit lying, and start doing what Elijah Lovejoy died for-report the truth!
We should march with angel wings, halos, and everyone must be holding a bag of skittles to prove how innocent our intentions are as we storm their HQs with pitchforks.
I agree with you Kimmy. It doesn't matter if he was a saint or a sinner the fact of the matter is he was unarmed and had no criminal record. He was just walking and minding his own business.
He avoided Zimmerman, then instead of running the rest of the way to his father's house, he came back for Zimmerman. Zimmerman lost him for 5 minutes and Trayvon was only like 50 yards from his father's house. Many athletic people can run 40 yards in 5 seconds sprinting. Those 5 minutes suggest that instead of going home after losing him, he decided to attack Zimmerman. He paid for it.
"He came back for Zimmerman" "Trayvon was only like 50 yard from his father's house" Where are you getting this information?
I think I saw it in the article linked in the lead post, but that page is now gone.
Hey PJ, just wanted to give credit where it's due, you told us a long time ago to follow this "local, state" story so a pat on the back (others here may choose to pat you elsewhere), it's trying to go national.
http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/26/tax-return-fraud-explodes-in-tampa/
You're assuming he ran the entire time. Also how could you be certain that he knew where he was going? Maybe he was unfamiliar with the area and had to backtrack (if he really did backtrack)?
It is possible he wasn't minding his own business, however unfortunately we ONLY have Zimmerman telling us that. The fight doesn't count because that came after a confrontation. I agree with SK and that is the part that I lament that becuase of this storm both sides of the political spectrum are now trying to muddy the waters. The parents have the right to want to know what happened from the very start, they were denied that, the cops have a lot of blame on this issue.
"The fight doesn't count..."? Excuse me? Why wouldn't the fight count? You think it's ok for assault to take place because someone is questioning who you are and why you are walking through a gated/secured community? You have the right to be wherever you want to be? Nobody can question you?
How do you know that cops are to blame for anything? They, non-whitey cops, assessed the situation and determined there was enough evidence to conclude that Zimmerman was defending himself. (Zimmerman also non-whitey)
Trained cops who deal with this crap daily. They don't let murderers walk. They don't arrest people who were defending themselves.
The collective idiocy of the public at large astounds me.
I am sick of people and this story. I have spoken about this for too long. I am done. I want to talk about other things you people keep talking about this. I guess I have to write an article or something ha?
That's the problem. We don't know if he was just walking and minding his business. The media will continue to confuse the issue. It will all come out and if Zimmerman is guilty he will be punished.
And if found "innocent" Zimmerman will be exonerated and hounded during the rest of his miserable life. Anyways...Zimmerman's attorney has stated that his client and wife were mentors to a 14-year-old African-American boy and 13-year-old African-American girl {respectively}. Watch it before it gets scrubbed if you like here. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/report-witness-claims-trayvon-martin-attacked-george-zimmerman/
Yes at this point in time, I have to agree with Martin's Mother that this is not necessarily a racial issue.
I think she's right. I really believe that Zimmerman is a wannabe type and he got in way over his head. Tragic results despite who Martin may or not have been.
Agreed.
The article then does not truly state that he was, only that he could be because of tattoes and he frontin for his friends. Okay great. A 17 year old using marijuana is not news, I was hoping the article would have more concrete evidence of the drug dealing. However, no drugs, no weapons, and no tools of thievery were found on Trayvon Martin nevertheless.
When I was in high school several kids broked into the janitor's closet and took some stuff to make a prank in the teacher's lounge. Those places are off limits to students and of course the prank was wrong and hence they got a hefty suspension. I cannot just assume it is connected to drugs. It is suspicious they are not talking about it in more full terms though I want to know more about it.
My question is: What does this mean in the end or what does this change?
Other than the perception of Martin, what does this change? he was still shot down by a man when he himself had no weapon. The man claims self defense, however why was Zimmerman alone with Martin in the first place? The assumption of the article is that Martin accosted Zimmerman, seemingly out of nowhere as Zimmerman was fulfilling his duties as a watchperson. There is no discussion about Zimmerman being told not to follow and to go meet the cops instead. If Zimmerman had done that instead of continue to follow and then confront Martin, Martin would be alive, Zimmerman wouldn't be public enemy number one and this wouldn't be national news.
