Wave of attacks kills dozens amid Iraq’s upheaval

• Makes me sad. After all the sacrifice, resources and American lives, here it is. But, I saw it coming. After two tours there, this was painfully evident to me, from what I saw, and conversations that I had with Iraqis there.
  There are some intelligent motivated people who want to move forward and create a modern and free society, but they are outnumbered by the ignorant, intolerant and hate-filled, foaming at the mouth extremists.(Muslims)
  Some Iraqis that I considered friends told me straight up that they could not wait until we (Americans) left, so that they (their group, tribe, sect, etc)
  could take over, settle old scores, and exterminate those they considered enemies-that would be anyone not just like them.
  I actively encouraged Kurds and Coptic Christians that I knew or encountered to get out of the country any way that they could. Hope most of them made it.
  Pulling out was not the best answer-I don't know what is. But keeping our troops there with the PC rules and highly restrictive ROE (Rules of Engagement) which meant fighting with one hand tied behind the back was not going to work.
  Bottom line-you can't help people that do not want to help themselves, work together, and compromise in any way. They have been at each other's throats since the beginning of time and it is not going to change any time soon. Iraq was relatively calm and peaceful under Saddam because he ruled with an iron fist and forced it upon them. Just like the Balkans, just like Egypt. I do not condone dictators, just making an observation.
  Still, I wonder what it was all for, now that it is unraveling right before our eyes, and the Joke-in Chief is crowing about His great accomplishment.
  Take a moment to remember those who fell trying to make things better.
  Apologies for my long-windedness, just upsetting to see this at this time of year, and remember friends no longer with us because of Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • Thank you for your service, I also lost friends in both places, it sucks to see us leave with the job unfinished while President Obutthead says Iraq is "now stable and secure"....and I know the worst is yet to come for the people of Irag.

  • I salute all those who sacrificed their time, their limbs, their lives, to try to straighten out a bad situation. I only wish I could honestly say that I thought it was done for a good cause. Now it is clear that it was all for nothing.

    • But we ended the "longest war in American History." Funny, since we are STILL at war with North Korea. Some 61 years now. Did any of these morons take history or I don't know READ A HISTORY BOOK!?

      • The Korean War doesn't count because it was a Democrat that got us into that one. Only Republicans that get us into wars are allowed to be criticized. That means Bush, um, er, wha, who, I guess that's it!

  • Fortunately they are so effed up themselves that they probably could not do it. Shit keeps blowing up on them over there and their economy is shot. In spite of BHO and his failure to act in 2009, Iran may fall anyway. What a great day that would be!

    • I don't think these 'accidents' in Iran are accidents at all. I think that they pissed off some country whose leaders possess testicles. Possibly a country that also dealt with Somali pirates by installing ventilation in their hides.

    • As much as I'd like to agree, even with the technical ineptness that they have shown here lately, Iran has a large standing army, with lots of Soviet made stuff. We all know that the US presence in Iraq was the only thing stopping them from a secular civil war, and now that's gone. So all Iran has to do is wait for the 2 factions of the "Religion of Peace" to have at it, and then just move in and "Stabilize" the country.

      • All true but the economic and social issues at home are not going well and getting worse. The Soviet equipment is ancient and I do not think that the rest of the Arabs will sit by and let the Persians invade Iraq. That complicates things though because the whole thing could spiral out of control really fast if they did invade. IMO, the more likely thing is the continuation of covert actions and terror tactics as described in the article and then Iraq collapses into civil/sectarian war. Iran will do well in that scenario.

        • I recall the Arabs standing by watching the Iraqi's invade Kuwait. There's nothing left of Iraq for them to invade for IMO. Now the Joooos.... that's the prize Whackmathingyjob has his eye on.

          IMO, the ethnic hatred between the Persians and Arabs is the difference.

          Huge oil reserves, Shia allies, oil processing facilities, an additional port complex, international prestige, territory, closer proximity to Israel.

• Of course getting out of Iraq was a great accomplishment for 0bama. However, the mayhem and misery that leaving Iraq will cause is all the fault of Boooooooooooooooooooooosh!

  Mark my words, there will be dozens of reports about how Bush caused the car bombing, the maiming, and killing of 0bama's decisions.
