White House invites pro-abortion nun, transgender woman, and gay bishop to meet Pope. Apparently the invitations to Miley Cyrus, David Miscavige, and Louis Farrakhan got lost in the mail.

  • My only hope is that Francis tells the to recant and repent, and when they don't, ex-communicates them on the spot, Ray Donovan style.

  • The Vatican is objecting to the White House invitation list. If Francis was really a stalwart man, which I don't think he is, he would tell Obama he's not coming to the White House and let our low-class president stew in the resulting scandal and controversy about insulting a sitting Pope. It would be a good lesson for Obama, although, knowing his pettiness and viciousness, he'd probably sent a drone to bomb St. Peter's.

      on most issues.

  • The pro abortion Nun must be from Fr. Flagers flock. I've never heard of such a thing. How many rocks did they have to look under to find her? Additionally, I would love to know what convent she is tied to and if that convent is even recognized by the Church.

    • I'mwith you. I wonder if she is even Catholic. There are Anglican nuns, Buddhist nuns, etc. Who is Flager? Missed that one.

      • There's plenty of people that claim to be Roman Cathlic, who profess beliefs that eliminate them from actually being a Roman Catholic -- that even go so far as to eliminate them from being a christian. I refuse to acknowledge them as such, and if the Roman Catholic church as a whole had any pretension as to being a Christian organization, it should cast them out.

        You cannot be any more non-Christ-like than to advocate for the wholesale ending of human life, especially because these humans' sole "crime" was that they posed an inconvenience to their mothers.

        • Some of what he says is accurate. The idea of having a "black rite," like the Eastern church has its own rite ignores the fact that the Easternchurch had serious theological disagreements with the Romanchurch and split off. It isn't a different "rite", its a different faith jouney! I am rathersurprised the Church hasn't assigned him to outer Slobovia for life. The fact that they allow him to stay shows alevelof support in contrast with their public statements.

          • A "black rite"?!? The regular service of the Orthodox Churches, and also the Eastern Churches in communion with the Church of Rome (such as the Melkite Church) is the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. In fact, if you were to attend a liturgy of the Melkite Church and of the Orthodox Church, the service would be virtually identical, differing only in prayers offered for the hierarchy.

            The difference in actual beliefs are in some ways quite minor, in other ways profound, but as a practical matter are of interest mainly to professional theologians. Most people, whether Eastern or Western, don't devote a lot of thought to the question of whether the Holy Spirit "proceeds" from the Father alone, or from the Father and the Son together, and the question is largely irrelevant to the Christian life itself. Orthodoxy also rejects the Augustinian notion that Original Sin is in some way a spiritual birth defect inherent in human nature, but rather that it is the condition of all of Creation because of the Fall: that is, mankind is not inherently sinful, but because of "The" Original Sin, we can't make it on our own. Same effective result.

            As for the split, the Great Schism was NOT over theological differences, and was in fact a largely technical division for a few hundred years, that is, most people in the Christian world still thought of there being just the One Church, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. It wasn't until the fall of Constantinople in the 15th c. to the Mohammedan (due in significant part to Constantinople never fully recovering from being sacked by overenthusiastic Crusaders who had skipped Geography class and thought they had already reached Jerusalem) that East and West fully fractured, and (from one point of view) the damaged Western Church kept right on fracturing as Protestantism exploded onto the scene.

          • Anglucan services are also nearly identical to Roman Catholic. And we also.follow the Nicese Creed, and espouse belief in the one, holy catholic, and epistolic church. All our priests are part of the Apostol i c succession. But the church described above seems to have gone so far to appeal to.Black.culture (which in itself is stupid, since Blacks come from many varied cultures) that it isn't even Roman Cathol i c anymore!

  • Whete to begin. I am Episcopalian and I don't approve of Gene Robinson. He trashed his wife and children, violated his vows as a Priest, and everytime he opens hismouth its all mememememe. Since he isn't Catholic, Francis already thinks he going to hell, regardless of his obviously confused claims of sexual preference. The nun may be disciplined. Personally, I don't think a woman who is being cared for by hrr convent, and never will be pregnant is in a position to advise women about childbirth one way or the other. Transgender and cross dressing are not the same, though I think both are symptoms of body dismorphism. Having said all this, Obama is again showing his lack of class, or even simple manners. He is being disrespectful to a guest of the United States. He has been nicer to Putin and Imanutjob from Iran. How rude! My Mom would shake her head and my Ma would say he need e d a visit to the woodshed!

      • Each local diocese votes in their own Bishop. While that is supposed to be done prayerfully, and with great discernment of God's will, it doesn't always work that way. In his csse, a very small, very liberal East coast diocese voted him in. The larger Anglican Communion doesn't really care for him. He was not invited to the Bishop's meeting at Lambeth a couple years ago, but hewent to England and spread his delusions to any who would listen. He is a narcissist, common among gays.
