  • I don't care what anyone says, women DO NOT belong in combat. I'm a little older than most of you here and when I was in the service women served honorably in admin or supply. Some of the most dedicated, caring, brave women in the service were the nurses. Ya'll ever watch M.A.S.H.? I saw nurses like that, they took care of us, they took care of me, come hell or high water.

Some of you ladies here may get your panties in a knot but I don't care. You cannot change human nature, you cannot change the facts. Women in combat will get good men killed, period, the end. You gals think about it. If someone threatens you what will your father, you brother, your husband do? He will come to your aid in a heartbeat, no questions asked. We are men, we are protectors, it is our blood and genes. No amount of training can take it out of us.

I saw a lot of combat when I was in and I'm telling you for a fact, it's hard enough to turn your back when one of your teammates goes down. You have to keep fighting to stay alive. If one of my teammates had been a woman the first thing I would have done is go back to protect her. I don't know any man who wouldn't. And actions like that could have gotten more men killed.

I understand you ladies have your pride, we men do to. But you have to understand that there are certain places in the military you do not belong. In combat situations the men with you will be looking after you, protecting you, instead of paying attention to business. And that, ladies, will get good men killed. You have the right to do anything you want to do to get ahead in life. You do not have the right to put fighting men in danger just because you want to be one of the boys.

  • Well, I am a d!ck, I guess because I find the video embarrassing as a former army officer. I get she finished despite being tired. Okay. but she is an officer and she should be leading as in out front. Barely finishing a road march like that while not easy should not result in a roughly 25 year old soldier gasping and curled up in a ball. Call me out all you want but I stand by the critique.

    • I don't disagree with you. I do give her credit for not quitting, but this is what happens when we start social engineering the military so girls don't feel left out.
Women weren't built to carry the weight men can carry.
Women weren't built with the stamina men are.
Political correctness will end up killing someone, because girls have to do what men do.
While I admit there are some women that can keep up with the men, my niece just passed the test to become an LA County Firefighter, and she passed the physical too, she is one of the few that can keep up with the guys. She is very strong, and solidly built, for a girl, and I may be biased, but she can handle the job, without having "girl specs" working in her favor.

      • "Women weren’t built with the stamina men are."

That's the one sentence where you're definitely wrong. Women actually have more stamina than men. They have less upper body strength and less muscle mass as a whole, but scientific research has shown they last longer because their fat-burning switch works better. Men have a helluva time switching to their fat stores when they run low on energy (and since men are leaner guys don't have much fat to begin with). We're more likely to collapse and restore while unconscious than make the switch underway. I don't disagree with you on this woman -- I don't know enough about the badge to know whether her effort is pathetic, whether this was the culmination of two or three days of physical effort, whether some of the guys were staggering across the finish line too. It looks to me that she is carrying a load designed for someone larger and stronger. She could be a marathon runner with all the stamina in the world, but if she's overloaded she's going to collapse eventually. Maybe that's the load they need to carry so a woman shouldn't be in that job, I don't know. But on the other hand, if she has medical skills the Army desperately needs in the field, maybe they should allocate pack weight proportionate to body weight. I used to go backpacking with my two daughters when they were only four and seven. I sure as hell didn't allocate the weight between packs evenly.

        • 12 miles in 3 hours means she had to maintain an average of 4 MPH. Something the vast majority of Americans could never do, including me.

          • 12 mile speed marches in three hours or less is a pretty well established army standard. The load is relatively light. We did plenty of 25 milers with more gear. Not timed but sucked hugely.

Lord, I sound like a get off my lawn guy.

          • No Kick, I don't think you're the "get off my lawn guy!" I was a career NCO and no big fan of many officers, or other career NCO's, for that matter; so I'm much more likely to be that "get off my ****ing lawn guy." Having said that, let be clear about my thoughts about women in the service. I don't dislike women, nor do I disrespect them, nor do I abuse them, nor did I when I was active duty; I do however, distinguish between earnest female soldiers, sailors, and marines and politically ambitious, nasty (usually, but not always, arrogant lesbian) harridans. Political motivations designed to advance treason were always and remain my biggest concern. It was bad when I was in uniform, it's just worse and more in your face now! This push to remove the distinctions and differences between the sexes is Marxist socialist pipe dreaming and serves only to escalate the advancement of primarily lesbian officers into the highest ranks of all branches of service and all MOS's, especially combat arms! This is and always was nothing more than a naked, blatant power grab. Think about this culturally, most of us have a hard enough time dealing with a son, father, or male family member coming back in a body bag; what happens when we devolve into accepting our daughters and mothers doing the same? Who's raising our children then? This has serious consequences that reach far beyond the current meme regarding women's rights.

          • Great post and the last point is something none of the social engineers likely thought of as they degraded the military first with the types of females you describe and then the openly gay males that have got to be a negative morale wise.

To your point but not military, look at Episcopal Bishop Heather Cook. She's the chronic substance abuser was elevated to that position despite her well-known issues. You know the rest - she ran over a bicyclist completely intoxicated. The left, of course, couldn't care less so long as they move THEIR football forward.

          • Pay attention to what the current commander of cadet training is doing to male candidates! Humiliating male cadets by forcing them to wear red female low quarter pumps...walk a mile in my shoes bullshit...this is not training, this is feminist power politics indoctrination. This crap will have long term negative effects on officer retention, morale, preparedness, especially among women. Don't ever think this is just about destroying men, this also destroys any desire genuine women might have in persuing careers in the armed forces. It'll have the effect of parents not letting their children grow up to be soldiers...kind of a take on the old Willie Nelson song about mothers, sons and cowboys. When we no longer encourage our children to serve, idiots like Charlie Rangle(sp) will lobby Congress to reinstate the draft and when that happens it will no longer be OUR military and I won't have any compunctious about defending myself and my family against a foreign invader!

          • Although walking speeds can vary greatly depending on a multitude of factors such as height, weight, age, terrain, surface, load, culture, effort, and fitness, the average human walking speed is about 5.0 kilometres per hour (km/h), or about 3.1 miles per hour (mph)

i used to did that kinda stuff, and more. but I was a lot younger, and hadn't spent anytime in college.

        • "We’re more likely to collapse and restore while unconscious than make the switch underway..."

          translation: Oh BABY! zzzzzz

Edit: “Women weren’t built with the stamina men are.”

"That’s the one sentence where you’re definitely wrong."
No, it's not wrong. you said the same thing only different. poppaj didn't say Women are built with LESS stamina than men. :)

    • Yeah, okay, I see where some other people had similar comments at the link, but keep in mind this was for a medical badge, not any kind of combat badge. Since she's a captain I'm assuming she's a doctor (just a guess I admit) and probably doesn't need this badge except so she can get into the field and help wounded soldiers where they need it most.

      • I think she's working on her OER (Officer Evaluation Report) and her next promotion. Yeah, I'm the cynical one, but I spent twenty three years of me life in uniform and I've seen the standards dwindle to nothing as a result of the chickification of the armed services...what, I wasn't supposed to notice? While twelve miles is hard for us old retired farts, I can still manage a good ten mile road march, but not in three hours and not while carrying a twenty, thirty, or forty pound rucksack, but I'm no longer twenty five years old. I was of the mindset, while I was on active duty that service and supply, which include medical services (whether they want to be included in this group or not) was were the sick, lame and lazy usually hung out. Rarely did they go to the field and when they did it was like resurrecting Sodom and Gomorrah...no such thing as field discipline, no light discipline, no sound discipline either. Bring the Bunny Ranch as well, tail is for sale! Federally mandated progressive social engineering has ruined the best fighting force on the planet and she's the only person we can drum up for adulation?

        • I will add that on April 18 of this year, I completed a 20 mile hike on the Cumberland Plateau in Central Tennessee. Very hilly terrain (I was in the mountains). I carried only water, a sandwich, and a few protein bars. I and three other 50 somethings including a woman finished in seven hours. That was for fun. It was not a speed march on a road and we still outperformed her given the distance and off-road terrain we traversed.

Like I said this captain is an embarrassment.

  • congratulations, its wonderful to see a young person with commitment, drive and undying determination to never give up. You are a credit to the military and have done yourself proud.
