Windmills to shut at night following demise of rare bat. Somebody made toothpicks out of Babe Ruth’s bat? No, they’re shutting down an entire wind farm during the nighttime hours because an endangered species of bat was found under one of the windmills. Nobody knows for sure the windmill killed it, but “innocent until proven guilty” is for terrorists, not windmills. And what about the folks who used the electric power the farm generated? They’re going batty.

Wind power is a waste. It only works when subsidized by the gov't. then only to make some rich. Once they are up the burn out and there is no money to repair them, so they become an eyesore on the landscape. The cost of building and maintaining will never be recovered. Check into it could be another Sowyndra.......... Your tax dollars at work.
Well the Enviro-nazis don't want fossil fuel powered anything, it pollutes. They don't want Hydroelectric , kills the fish. They don't want wind power, kills the birds. They don't want tidal energy, once again might kill some fish. Hell, they don't even want you to burn wood, I guess they like to be cold and in the dark.

Once again, the libtards had an idea, windmills to generate electricity. They spend millions to generate hundreds of dollars worth of power, then they shut it down for at least 1/3 of the time it can operate because of some damned pest!

Now Poppa, I am gong to hacve to differ with you there. Bats are not pests. They are living insecticides. A bat eats many times its own body weight in insects such as mosquitos each night (when they are most active.) THeir guano is used for fertilizer, and they are not harmful to humans unless rabid. And relatively few are rabid. I agree we shuld look out for the bats--they are of great benefit to us. And maybe shutting dowen the turbines when everybody is in bed is not a terrible idea. I DO think this is the kind of thiong that should hae been thought out before pushing these turbines everywhere.

Sorry Bonfire but I gotta say who cares? 35 of the newest, tallest, most technologically advanced wind generators will provide electricity to about 200 homes, maybe. If the wind blows.
I'm sure the local coal powered generating plant could take care of the needs of the consumers in the area without the windmills. In this case I will side with the eco-freaks and tree huggers. Save the bat, shut the taxpayer funded fiasco called wind power down.
Agreed. We're not defending windmills here, rather the opposite, pointing out the silliness in the Left's arguments in promoting them. The eco-freaks are the ones demanding the country shift to wind from coal and other sources because the latter harms the environment, kills birds, etc. So the utility put up windmills to "be green" and gosh, they gotta be shut down TOO because they kill bats. And the enivornazis would NOT agree with you here that the coal plants be restarted in place of the windmills. They would just say, "tough shit, sit in the dark." In point of fact, if the utility had complied fully with all the radical enviromentalists desires and relied exclusively on wind power (and decommissioned all the coal, nuclear and gas plants) some of their customers would be in the dark because of dead bats.
Seriously. One dead bat. They should ban cars everywhere - I see dead deer along the road! They should ban air travel - sometimes a bird gets sucked into a jet engine! They should ban people. It'd be a better world. The best way to talk to a liberal is take THEIR idea to the extreme and expose it for the hyperbole it really is.
Did anyone TEST the bat? Maybe it had rabies. Maybe it had white snout diesease which is killing off bats in the Northeast. Maybe if the "there is no God all is science" crowd would USE science, some of these ridiculous decisions would stop.
Maybe they should only shut off power to the homes of greenies? 24/7? Permanently?
