I'd say he was led astray by too many doses of drugs of various kinds.

Of course she does. This is not news. It happens on every level, whether the worst thing a kid does is pee behind a tree, or blow up a country. Every bit of rebellion from myself or my brother was blamed on "the street".
I've been exposed to all sorts of stuff on the internet, and I've yet to kill anyone. Such it up, mom.
OK, let's be a little realistic here. He was 21, not 12. Mom had little control over what he does. He was also on SSRI drugs, so there is also that.
Mom needs to stop making excuses for her mentally disturbed boy.
Little control now... but I am sure that this behavior and ideals didn't start last week. We need to know when he started to exhibit strange behavior and when he started taking the drugs.
With that said, in the end this was his fault and no one else's. There are always warning signs and always opportunities for people to do the right thing and then when everything and everyone fails it is down to the person to stop and he didn't.
When my grades failed... shit and privileges were taking away until they were back up...
When I was trippin'... some sort of punishment happened...
When I exhibited abnormal behavior... I was taking to: a medical Dr., a psychologist and a pastor was involved... so body, mind and spirit were checked to see what was the problem and get the problem solved.
Isnt that what you are supposed to do as a parent?
There's this thing called. BEING a PARENT. That means there will be times you've got to say no!, turn stuff off and set boundaries. Too many today want to be their child's best friend. Then when things go badly, the parent can't understand why their little angel did what they did.
Monitor your kids internet usage... Can never say it enough.
To be fair, kids are now exposed to an incredible amount of diabolical stuff, which is considered "the norm"; things that, a few decades ago, would have been considered "insane." For instance, a teen who mailed a photo of his genitals to someone would have required therapy, not be dismissed as "Oh, that's not so unusual." (And that's just one. I could make a massive list.)
I know people who were excellent parents, but they simply can't compete with the deluge of hideous info that comes pouring in. Add to that, the fact that they can't keep their heads above water without working their asses off -- when are they supposed to do all this parenting that they need to do?
Of course, this woman was doing the modern American stupidity of divorce and get yourself a new man to abuse you. She was self-destructive herself, so that's a dismal thing right there.
But (and here's the big question) if the culture around us doesn't change people, then why do we fight for control of it?
The Bible constantly warns us to stay away from things that are lustful, hateful and of a demonic nature. The idea of someone being "led astray" is a completely reasonable notion.
