If this guy and his family are so poor where did they get the $12 grand? He has to have a passport, how else did he fly into South America? If he took a slow boat instead why stop in SA when he could have docked anywhere on the east coast and just walked ashore. Besides, if he had a passport why not fly into Canada to begin with?
He obviously had enough to pay off the Mexican officials or he would have never made it through the country and, since I doubt many Mexicans speak Somali, he had to be using English to talk to his benefactors.
Then he gets arrested by ICE, turned loose then walks to the Canadian line? Or did ICE give him a Greyhound ticket to North Dakota? There are too many holes in this story, none of it makes any sense. This is about everyone who SOMEHOW have the family and/or job and health and discipline to garner enough money to cross illegally, yet we are supposed to believe they don't have a pot to piss in to begin with and come here desperately poor. There is a weird disconnect here. Then I find out that many come here on mafia money (or terrorist money) and gotta do odd jobs here and there to pay the debt off, in the meantime laws are broken, Americans are killed or raped or both and gang and terrorist activity increases.

To answer your question regarding whether he is Muslim or not, I contend that Somalia is nearly 100% Muslim, so the chances are very high that he is a Muslim.
