Surely, the rest of the country will be surprised that only 20% of Californians think they’re crazy. After all, these are the people who routinely, handily elect and re-elect Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Maxine Waters, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jerry Brown.
The L.A. Times has the inside information on the statewide insanity:
Almost 5 million California adults say they could use help with a mental or emotional problem, according to a survey released Wednesday by researchers at UCLA. About 1 million of them meet the criteria for “serious psychological distress.”
However, only one in three people who perceive a need for mental health services or are in serious distress have seen a professional for treatment, the survey found.
The survey was conducted among more than 44,000 adults as part of the 2005 California Health Interview Survey, administered through the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. Since the survey was conducted, the recession probably has contributed to worsening mental health for even more people, said the lead author of the study, David Grant.
Albert Einstein said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. Re-electing Democrats to solve the problems they’ve caused in California is definitely insane.

Just a minute buckaroo, I too have lived in many states, a couple countries, and was in the military. I now drive cross country so that I get to see all States, and experience them as an outsider looking in.
As a young girl I lived in CA, thankfully for only a year. When I moved back to my home state of Virginia,I was almost held back a year because the education system in CA is so far behind.
CA is going broke because of their liberal policies, an will expect the rest of the country to bail them out. You say that most of the people are not liberals, but Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, and the environmental wackos still run the state. The state is going broke, even though it has to be one of the richest states in the country, and of course they will expect the rest of us to bail them out. CA teaches the people liberal think and they go forth to change other states. States like Oregon, Washington, and Colorado are going the way of California.
The hypocrisy in CA runs rampant. They want the rest of us to "stop polluting" but still have a 70mph speed limit. In case you didn't know, with a combustible engine, the faster you go the more pollution you emit. They stop power companies from making new plants, but bitch because they have to spend more for power. They invite tourist to visit, but are the worse state for tourists to get around in. They say they promote safety but they have a split speed limit,( proven to be more unsafe), for the ability to get money from a group of people who do not live there and cannot vote.
You say that most of the people are not liberals, and it must be admitted that many of the issues put before the people have a conservative outcome, but they have allowed liberal judges to legislate from the bench, taking the power away from the people.
Elections have consequences, and decades of bad elections are now producing very bad consequences. Either those majority of not so liberal people you speak of don't vote or they are not aware of what those consequences are.
I think "the granola state" fits CA.
First, I have lived in Three Countries, Ten States and 19 or 20 cities.
I was born and mostly raised in the Awesome state of Colorado and lived
in five cities while doing so.
I've lived in many cities in California, by Moab, Utah, in Seattle
Washington, New Orleans, Louisiana, and in Miami Beach Florida. And
while in the military, I was stationed in Missouri, Oklahoma, Georgia &
Kentucky. (as well as Colo & Wash.)
So I most certainly know more about more American States than many. And
In my knowledgeable view, CALIFORNIA IS BY FAR THE BEST PLACE to LIVE!

How could you possibly neglect to include Nancy Pelosi in your list of California political embarassments? Not only is she a horrible politician, and pretty horrible person (it's a short list of people doing more damage to the country), but she epitomizes the fruits and nuts theme.

You should all feel very sorry for me, living in this place with 20% of the population admitting they need help, and at least 75% needing it but not admitting it. But San Diego is just so beautiful. Too bad it's being ruined by illegals and their supporters.
Know what you mean, Guy. I was stationed there '88-'91 on my last enlistment. Great town, lots to do, nice climate with occasional weather, SD Zoo, Balboa Park, great beaches within reasonable distance, even a 3-story indoor mall ( saw Bob Hope there) on Broadway for the rare non-driver. At the time it was funny seeing "Illegal Alien Crossing" signs on US 5 going up to Anaheim. Not so funny now. Seems like that's the way most of the major cities are becoming.
