If someone tells you there’s been a massive increase in hate crimes against Muslims in New York, remember the old saying, “There are lies, damn lies and statistics.”
The New York Post has the latest statistics:
Did you hear about the surge in hate crimes in New York? Bias against Muslims is the driving force, proving what a horribly victimized minority they are.
Just kidding.
Hate crimes are up 14 percent across the state, but those against Muslims are a tiny fraction. Of the 683 reported to police in 2009, only 11 targeted Muslims. Yes, 11. In 2008, there were eight.
Compare that with the 251 against Jews, or 37 percent of the total. Anti-black crimes were down slightly, to 144, or 21 percent of the total.
The biggest rise was in crimes against gays, from 70 to 107.
Look for the liberal media to lament the horrid 37.5% increase in hate crimes against Muslims. And look for rational media outlets to note that those crimes increased from an almost invisible eight to a merely miniscule eleven.

Speaking of half a hate crime, will it show up as only half a black man getting impeached when we toss Obama out? Or will they say we impeached the first black president?

Go to some of those Muslim countries and say something negative about the religion and see how many hate crimes are committed against you; including by the government under blasphemy laws and things.
Hell, just practice a non- Muslim religion in those Muslim countries!
Oh, bozhe moi, boo hoo and I'm so upset that muslims in New York are upset about being targeted with racial hared. I mean, here we have a whopping 37.5% increase in hate crimes in 2009 against muslims, a tremendous leap upwards of 3 whole incidents. However, the newsies wouldn't have a proper socialist dialogue if they'd said that out of the hundreds of hate crimes perpetrated throughout the year, only 11 of them were against muslims--up from 8 the year before. This is wag the dog math. Besides, I think the muslims need to grow thicker skin--or leave.

How can a hate crime, discrimination or racism occur against a caucasian? The one instance is a white homosexual, but that has nothing to do with race. Apparently when gangs and thugs assult white people for no other reason than their skin color that is not considered a HATE crime. Look at the actual stats....black on white crime, hispanic on white crime by far outstrips white against ANY other group. It's OUR culture that these idiots want to destroy. Damn fine question, Kip. I've heard, but can't verify, that a considerable percentage of murders are committed in drug deals gone bad. The net result, of course, is that those of us who aren't involved in drugs are far safer than the stats would indicate.
And then there's the issue of when dealers and users shoot it out, who really gives a shit? (There's that empathy thing again.)
