Let’s see. There are 300 million Americans and Rasmussen says 61% of them hate the media. According to our rough calculations, that means we have about 183 million potential readers.
Damn it. We’re not fulfilling our potential. This is like reliving every report card we ever got in school.
Rasmussen confirms that although we are thought leaders, we are economic laggards:
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 61% of Likely U.S. Voters are at least somewhat angry at the media, with 26% who are Very Angry. Thirty-six percent (36%) don’t share that anger, including 13% who are Not At All Angry at the media.
This is only slightly less anger than voters expressed in June of last year as the midterm election season was heating up.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking everyone hates the media, though. There is one narrow segment of the American public that loves the media. You won’t be surprised to find out who they are:
The Political Class, however, likes the job the media is doing. While 47% of Mainstream voters feel that most reporters are trying to advance the president’s agenda, 64% of those in the Political Class think they are more interested in unbiased reporting. No wonder, then, that 71% of Mainstream voters are angry at the media, but 83% of the Political Class are not.
The same Rasmussen poll shows that 69% Americans express anger at the current policies of the federal government.
Maybe we should start a second money-losing site called IHateTheGovernment.com. It would be based, of course, on the time-tested liberal theory that we lose money on every website, but we’ll make it up in volume.

Why doesn't IHTM have the 183 million viewers? Two reasons I can think of. #1 they went to American schools. and #2 They're waiting for the media to tell them to look here!
I'm considering being a journalist as well, but as a retirement plan from being a lawyer. But i really think I would never get hired because as hard as I could try... any POLITICAL piece i would write probably WOULD be biased... I could try though...
It's not the being biased that would keep you out. It's the being biased towards truth.

I stumbled onto this site and I can't remember how I did. I bet a lot of the Newsbusters and FreeRepublic people would love this site, particularly the Newsbusters people.
I still get pissed off at the media. I actually took Journalism for awhile in college, but I hated how they presented it. We were told to be unbias gatekeepers, choosing what should and shouldn't be reported on. No one can be unbiased and even the most benign news story has a slant. (People can get very crafty in the way they slant stories as well...) I loved my journalism professor but I knew I'd end up hitting someone if I stayed in the field.
I'm glad blogging and the net came along so that we can have what might be called 'citizen journalists' covering the news. That is the best thing to happen to news reporting since newspapers were invented, in my opinion.
Warren, you weren't taught about Operation Mockingbird in your course and how Communists, the CIA and major media players dating back to the 1940's and going through the 1980's as to how they have been lapdogs not watchdogs.

Based on most of the crapola that I read in the papers, albeit I read papers damn seldom, these "journalists" would have failed my eleventh grade high school journalism class. Great teacher but she was hell on "editorializing" and could find it no matter how careful you were. But maybe "journalism" has changed to be the worthless horse shit it currently is.

Exactly who comprises the "Political Class"? I've seen Rasmussen mention them before, but no exact details of occupation, or affiliation. However, since they tend to side with this latest administration, maybe they should change their name to the "Fawning Bootlicker Class".
We need to pare back drastically on the 'political class' and to do that I propose deleting the following: EPA, OSHA, Federal Reserve Bank, Department of Fish and Wildlife, Bureau of Land Management, FCC, PBS, The UN, IRS, DHS, BATF, FSA, DOT, All federal education programs...all of them! Can you kind folks think of any federal agencies or departments we can live without?

If you choose to organize and have your pay and benefits negotiated as a group that is fine. Likewise if you as an employer choose to not deal with that organization that should be your choice. That should be between the workers the union and the employer. Any regulations if needed could be done at the state level. What business this is of the Federal government is beyond me.
Ahhhhh. I love the IHTM's business model--sell everything below cost but tell your investors not to worry as you can make it up in volume. Savvy you are!! The economic gurus in the present administration must be nodding their collective bobbleheads and saying "see--these guys get it. Now if we could just convince more folks of the same, this entire economy would turn around and get out of this ditch (but immediately fall off a cliff)"
In their world view, they're "in the center" which appears to be mid-way between Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro.
