61% of Americans pissed at the media. So why isn’t everyone reading IHateTheMedia.com?

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 61% of Likely U.S. Voters are at least somewhat angry at the media.

Let’s see. There are 300 million Americans and Rasmussen says 61% of them hate the media. According to our rough calculations, that means we have about 183 million potential readers.

Damn it. We’re not fulfilling our potential. This is like reliving every report card we ever got in school.

danger-angry-american
Fox News will probably be the only television network to report this story

Rasmussen confirms that although we are thought leaders, we are economic laggards:

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 61% of Likely U.S. Voters are at least somewhat angry at the media, with 26% who are Very Angry. Thirty-six percent (36%) don’t share that anger, including 13% who are Not At All Angry at the media.

This is only slightly less anger than voters expressed in June of last year as the midterm election season was heating up.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking everyone hates the media, though. There is one narrow segment of the American public that loves the media. You won’t be surprised to find out who they are:

The Political Class, however, likes the job the media is doing. While 47% of Mainstream voters feel that most reporters are trying to advance the president’s agenda, 64% of those in the Political Class think they are more interested in unbiased reporting. No wonder, then, that 71% of Mainstream voters are angry at the media, but 83% of the Political Class are not.

The same Rasmussen poll shows that 69% Americans express anger at the current policies of the federal government.

Maybe we should start a second money-losing site called IHateTheGovernment.com. It would be based, of course, on the time-tested liberal theory that we lose money on every website, but we’ll make it up in volume.

We hate the media. You hate the media. Damn near everyone hates the media.

IHateTheMedia.com has been up and running for a mere 17 months and 66% of American voters now agree that they also hate the media.

As highly-trained mathematicians, we were quickly able to determine that 100% of the nation’s voters will agree with us in another 8 months and three weeks.

Rasmussen reveals the details of IHateTheMedia.com’s vast influence:

Sixty-six percent (66%) of U.S. voters describe themselves as at least somewhat angry at the media, including 33% who are Very Angry.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 31% say they are not angry at the media, but that includes just nine percent (9%) who say they are not at all angry.

…But voters have consistently said in surveys that they believe the national media has a liberal bias and that most reporters try to help the candidates they want to win. Just before Election Day 2008, 51% said most reporters were trying to help Barack Obama win the presidency. Just seven percent (7%) thought they were trying to help John McCain, while 31% viewed their coverage as unbiased.

Now 48% of voters think most reporters when they write or talk about President Obama are trying to help the president pass his agenda. Only 18% think most reporters are trying to block the president from passing his agenda. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say they are simply interested in reporting the news in an unbiased manner.

Thank you. Thank you very much. We appreciate your support and please rest assured that we will continue our battle for truth, justice and the American way. At least until we can sell this damn thing to Salem Communications for millions of dollars. Or thousands. We might be willing to settle for thousands. Make us an offer.

America hates the media: 55% say media bias bigger problem in politics than big contributions

There were times in the last 15 months when we thought we’d never succeed in our mad dream of convincing America that the media is a worthy object of their hate. Then we saw this research from Rasmussen and realized that all is right with the world.

Dan Rather media bias It’s been a long, arduous journey for IHateTheMedia.com. There were times in the last 15 months when we thought we’d never succeed in our mad dream of convincing America that the media is a worthy object of their hate.

Then we saw this research from Rasmussen and realized that all is right with the world:

Voters agree that big money talks in politics but apparently not as loudly as big media.

Fifty-five percent (55%) of U.S. voters continue to think that media bias is a bigger problem in politics today than big campaign contributions, identical to the finding in August 2008.

Thirty-two percent (32%) say big contributions are the bigger problem, but that’s down four points from the previous survey. Thirteen percent (13%) more are not sure.

…Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Republicans and 62% of unaffiliated voters say media bias is the bigger problem in politics, a view shared by just 37% of Democrats. The plurality (46%) of Democrats says campaign contributions are a bigger problem.

Sixty-five percent (65%) of Mainstream voters and 54% of the Political Class agree that the bigger problem facing politics is media bias.

55% of America hates the media. Which is only fair, we suppose, since the media seems to hate America.

Looks like they hate the media in Pakistan even more than we do

Pakistan: Dozen of media persons have been subjected to the horrible torture by doctors in the presence of police at Jinnah Hospital.

Take two aspirin and call someone who gives a damn in the morning.

Hey, you American media people should just read this story and consider yourselves damn lucky.

The report comes in from Pakistan’s GEO TV:

Dozen of media persons have been subjected to the horrible torture by doctors in the presence of police at Jinnah Hospital here on Wednesday.

Tension began when media persons went to hospital to cover a demonstration staged by the relative of 60-year-old patient, who died due to alleged negligence of the doctor.

The doctors became annoyed when journalists asked them the reason for the death of patient while instead of answering the question, they started beating the media persons.

According to Geo correspondent Faisal Karim, media persons were invited for talks at the hospital’s conference room, where they were beaten again both by the doctors and police.

Faisal said he was also among the journalists, who were also severely beaten by the doctors-turned-rioters.

Rioting doctors? Thanks to ObamaCare, we’re only a couple steps away from that in the United States.

Much as we would like to follow the Pakistani doctors’ example and beat Keith Olberamm silly, we will refrain. We think he suffers far more pain when people laugh at him.

In Chinese, 媒介是像應該踢的狼 means “the media is like a wolf that should be kicked”

Ahhh, the poetry of the Chinese language. Hell, here in America, we’d just say I hate the media. And here’s another reason why.

"Climate change," President Obama said, "is like a fire breathing dragon that threatens the global village." "公牛狗屎," replied the Chinese Premier.

Ahhh, the poetry of the Chinese language. Hell, here in America, we’d just say I hate the media. And here’s another reason why.

Newsweek, that venerable publication devoted to defending traditonal American ideals (In English, that’s what’s known as a joke. In Chinese, it’s 笑话)…anyway, Newsweek recently published an article entitled “Why China and the U.S. Will Only Get Closer.”

Please allow us to summarize the article: Blah, blah, blah, China’s cool now and the US isn’t blah, blah, blah.

The comrade journalist who wrote the article says, “Having grown accustomed to dominance, many Americans now find China’s boom unsettling. After all, two states like this are historically expected to clash.”

But the article says this need not necessarily be our fate. “China need not become an adversary.” How can we avoid it, Newsweek? How? Simple. “Americans must come to terms with the reality that their own vaunted democratic system has often failed them.”

The article ends by revealing the reason the United States and China must become closer. It’s climate change. Of course. We should have known that Newsweek would somehow pin the future of democracy to the global warming scam.

公牛狗屎

That’s how you say bullshit in Chinese.

President’s ousted Communications Director says “the war on Fox News worked”

Anita Dunn said that the White House criticism has been effective in preventing other networks from picking up stories broken by Fox.

Remember when some wit said we should end the war in Vietnam by simply taking the troops home and announcing that we’d won? Former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn seems to be using the same philosophy in the President’s War on Fox.

Verum Serum has the details:

[S]he said that the White House criticism has been effective in preventing other networks from picking up stories broken by Fox.

“It did help people get a sense of perspective again,” Dunn said. “People took a step back and said, ‘Hmm, am I really wanting to go chase those stories?’”

Actually, Anita, what people did was take a step back and say, “Hmm, if Obama can figure out a strategy for a war with Fox, why can’t he figure out a strategy for the war in Afghanistan?”

According to a devastating new Rasmussen poll, the media blows everything out of proportion. And we mean everything.

66% think the media exaggerates swine flu. 54% think they exaggerate global warming. 61% think the media has too much influence over government decisions. 85% trust their own judgment on important matters more than the average reporter.

We took a poll around the office. We found that 100% think the media is filled with lying bags of crap who exaggerate their own importance.

Note: Sorry the sounds begins automatically. We can’t stop that from happening.

And the Lord Media sayeth unto the masses, “Worship me, for I am the one true God”

Imagine that you’re speaking in front of a room packed with people who had paid their hard-earned money to hear what you had to say. Now imagine that a couple TV networks decided that they should do live reports from that room while you’re speaking.

Here’s proof that arrogance is in the media’s DNA.

Imagine that you’re speaking in front of a room packed with people who had paid their hard-earned money to hear what you had to say. Now imagine that a couple TV networks decided that they should do live reports from that room while you’re speaking.

That’s exactly what happened at this week’s Values Voters Summit. MSNBC and Fox sent reporters to event and they both somehow got the impression that they were the story.

When people interrupted the live broadcasts to ask the reporters to quiet down and show a little respect for the speakers, the reporters were offended. As were the anchors.

Yup, we hate the media. The left wing media and the right wing media.

The year’s most unsurprising research: Almost no one trusts the press

The public’s assessment of the accuracy of news stories is now at its lowest level in more than two decades of Pew Research surveys, and Americans’ views of media bias and independence now match previous lows.

pew-research-americans-dont-trust-media

As a result of it’s latest survey, Pew Research concludes that Americans don’t trust the press. Not exactly a man bites dog story.

Here’s how Pew reports it:

The public’s assessment of the accuracy of news stories is now at its lowest level in more than two decades of Pew Research surveys, and Americans’ views of media bias and independence now match previous lows.

Just 29% of Americans say that news organizations generally get the facts straight, while 63% say that news stories are often inaccurate. In the initial survey in this series about the news media’s performance in 1985, 55% said news stories were accurate while 34% said they were inaccurate. That percentage had fallen sharply by the late 1990s and has remained low over the last decade.

Similarly, only about a quarter (26%) now say that news organizations are careful that their reporting is not politically biased, compared with 60% who say news organizations are politically biased. And the percentages saying that news organizations are independent of powerful people and organizations (20%) or are willing to admit their mistakes (21%) now also match all-time lows.

Disgraced media star calls for Media Czar

Dan Rather is out to save the rapidly-depleting stock of journalists, reporters, editors and empty-headed news anchors by asking for a media czar.

"Hello? Mr. President. It's Czar Rather. I have a typo on page 3. Go to DefCon 4."
"Hello? Mr. President. It's Czar Rather. I have a typo on page 3. Go to DefCon 4."

The sky may be falling and the earth may be boiling polar bear cubs at a rapid rate, but Dan Rather, a leading, but by no means only reason journalism is no longer respected, is out to save the rapidly-depleting stock of journalists, reporters, editors and empty-headed news anchors.

Rather, who spoke at the Aspen Institute, called for the Obama administration to create a “commission on public media.” The commission would, among other things, try to find new business models to help save media outlets because, if it’s one thing that the hundreds of years of the free enterprise system has shown us, it’s that people are incapable of creating a business model without the interference from a government commission.

Remember the Commission On 144-Character Micro-Blogging Messages that brought us Twitter?

“A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom,” Rather said in an interview. (A free and independent press that is overseen by a government commission?)

The commission might also be able to help forge documents, too, like military letters about presidents whose politics you don’t necessarily agree with.

If the commission is created, we would need another Czar, a Czar of All Media.

Let’s see. Where could we find a liberal, out-of-work journalist who left his career in disgrace and may need another shot at proving his worth before he’s rolled up like newspapers used to be and tossed away in the dustbin of media history?

Hmmm. Who could that be?

CNN wonders if Obama is overexposed

CNN wonders if Obama is overexposed.

Is the Pope Catholic? Does Reverend Wright hate America? Is Joe Biden a dope? Does a bear do what a bear generally does in the woods?

Panic is setting in as CNN’s poster boy plummets in the polls. So they ask one of those questions that has an obvious answer: Is Obama over-exposed?

The Michael Jackson video that says what everyone really thinks about the media coverage

We would never run a video with the language in this video, but creator Jon Lajoie nails the media’s disgust for, and then after his death, love for, Michael Jackson. if you can take objectionable language, it’s a must hear.

Normally, we wouldn’t run a video with the language contained in this music video. But creator Jon Lajoie nails the media’s disgust for, and then after his death, love for, Michael Jackson. If you can take objectionable language, it’s a must hear for anyone who is sick of the media coverage his death and funeral are receiving.

To give you an idea of the content, here is the chorus (he is speaking to the media):

Michael Jackson is dead, don’t pretend you give a sh*t,
you motherf***ing hypocrites, don’t forget what you said he did.

Michael Jackson is dead, no, you never gave a sh*t,
So why are you pretending, you motherf***ing hypocrites?

EXTREME WARNING: This video has very offensive language and subject matter. Do not watch if this will bother you.

Bias by the numbers: Measuring the media’s 100-day love affair with Obama.

Yes, we get it. The main stream media loves Barack Obama.
Yes, we get it. The main stream media loves Barack Obama.
A study conducted by the nonpartisan Center for Media and Public Affairs and California’s Chapman University has actually measured the amount of drool in the slobbering love affair
the MSM has been carrying on with Obama for the last 100 days.

MediaBistro reports, “Not only has Obama gotten more coverage, but that coverage has been more positive than his predecessors.”

“On the ABC, CBS, and NBC evening newscasts, 58% of all evaluations of the president and his policies have been favorable, while 42% were unfavorable. That compares with 33% positive in the comparable period of Bush’s tenure and 44% positive for Pres. Clinton.”

Maybe you’re wondering how the MSM (sans Fox) can be in such agreement with The One’s agenda. Turns out there’s a reason beyond the Administration’s daily phone calls with George Stephanopolous.

Washington Post media writer Howard Kurtz reveals that key MSM journalists are meeting furtively for swanky dinners at The Watergate where Administration bigwigs spoon-feed talking points to their left-wing media enablers. (Off the record, naturally.) Kurtz comments, “the catered gatherings…sound rather cozy, like some secret-handshake gathering of an entrenched elite. Are the top-level officials, strategists and foreign leaders there for serious questioning or risk-free spin sessions? And what exactly is the journalistic benefit if the visitors are protected by a shield of anonymity?”

Fortunately these reporters are no longer anonymous. Want to know the names of the media lapdogs eating out of the Administration’s hand? According to Kurtz, “Among those in regular attendance are David Brooks and Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Gene Robinson and Ruth Marcus of The Washington Post, NBC’s David Gregory, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, PBS’s Gwen Ifill, the New Yorker’s Jane Mayer, Vanity Fair’s Todd Purdum, former Time managing editor Walter Isaacson and staffers from Bradley’s Atlantic and National Journal, including Ron Brownstein, Andrew Sullivan and Jonathan Rauch.”

As Kurtz next points out, unsurprisingly, “The networks have given President Obama more coverage than George W. Bush and Bill Clinton combined in their first months — and more positive assessments to boot.”

“On Fox News, by contrast, only 13 percent of the assessments of Obama were positive on the first half of Bret Baier’s “Special Report,” which most resembles a newscast. The president got far better treatment in the New York Times, where 73 percent of the assessments in front-page pieces were positive.”

This explains a lot. While the competition is busy slobbering, Fox is clobbering.

Why does the media hate and ignore Michael Savage?

michael savageThere’s an old saying that “Any ink is good ink.” But when it comes to radio talk show host Michael Savage, there’s almost no ink.

Savage is America’s third largest talker based on number of affiliates and listeners. Top dog Rush Limbaugh has “about 600 affiliates.” Sean Hannity has “over 500.” And Michael Savage reportedly has 400. Yet the difference in press coverage received by the three talk titans is startling.

We searched Google News for the year 2008. “Rush Limbaugh” and was mentioned 68,400 times. Sean Hannity was mentioned 18,600 times. But Michael Savage scored only 5,910 mentions. Obviously, Limbaugh is the king daddy and in another league compared to everyone else. But how do you explain the vast difference between the coverage of Hannity and Savage? Savage has 80% as many affiliates as Hannity, but received but gets only 31% of the press coverage. And, by the way, he is a man that has published over 20 books.

To double check our theory, we also searched Google News for the last month. The finally tally was Limbaugh 9,398 mentions, Hannity 621 mentions, and Savage a mere 137 mentions. That number puts him far closer to overwhelmingly unpopular and unsuccessful talk show hosts like Stephanie Miller (73 mentions) and Ed Schultz (44 mentions) than to peers Limbaugh and Hannity. Yet Savage has far more affiliates and a far larger audience than either of the liberal hosts.

Yes, Savage is combative. Abrasive. Harsh. Acerbic. Outspoken. But he has a large, loyal audience and there’s no logical reason for him to be ignored by the liberal and conservative press.

Here’s to you, Michael. For what it’s worth, you’re not being ignored by IHateTheMedia.com.

Iraq’s making progress everywhere except the American media

The results of a new poll conducted by ABC News, the BBC and Japan’s NHK must make editors and reporters around the nation take a big gulp and say, “Didn’t see that comin’.”

It shows big progress everywhere they looked. But you probably won’t read about it anywhere except an editorial in Monday’s Investor’s Business Daily.

Check out these numbers:

85% of Iraqis said their neighborhood security was “good,” up from 62% a year ago and 43% in August of 2007.

Those who support democracy jumped to 64% from just 43% in 2007.

58% feel “very good” or “quite good” about the state of affairs in Iraq. That’s up from just 22% in 2007.

When asked what their main concerns are, war, security and terrorism took a backseat to jobs and prices.

“In short, it sounds like we not only won the war, but the peace as well,” IBD concluded. “And for those who cast a skeptical eye on the idea that any Islamic country could ever be democratized, it turns out the former President Bush is winning that debate too.”

Some results IBD didn’t mention:

96% of Iraqis think John Kerry is a pompous liar. 98% think Harry Reid is a pathetic liar. And 100% of Iraqis think John Murtha is a big, fat liar.

75-year old Saudi woman gets 40 lashes, American media get reprieve

Ahhh, the beauty of Sharia Law. Coming soon to a country near you!
Ahhh, the beauty of Sharia Law. Coming soon to a country near you!

For some mysterious reason, this story’s barely made a blip in the news. Guess the American media’s just been too darn busy gushing over Michelle Obama’s arms.

A 75-year-old Saudi Arabian widow has been sentenced to 40 lashes and four months in jail for “mingling” with two young men who were not close relatives. One was her late husband’s nephew and the other was his business partner. Ah, the beauty of Islamic Sharia law.

One can’t help but notice the media’s striking lack of concern for women outside the United States. It’s rare to hear more than a whisper of protest from any print or broadcast media.

And the big name women’s organizations? Silent as Marcelle Marceau despite the fact that they’re always the first to say, “It’s one world. We’re one family of people. We’re all brothers and sisters.” Yet when confronted with horrible abuse in Muslim nations, the typical response is, “We must understand. We must not be so quick to criticize, because its their culture.”

Perhaps those 40 lashes would have been applied better to someone else. Send your nominations to IHateTheMedia.com.

ice_storm_with_iced_carsBad couple of weeks for Al Gore. First he had to brave dangerous blizzards to tell Congress about the dangers of global warming.

Now a new Rasmussen poll shows that most Americans think the media is blowing man’s impact on global warming (and its dangers) out of proportion.

To be specific, 54% percent of U.S. voters think the news media exaggerates the reality of global warming. Only 21% think the reporting reflects the situation accurately.

We took our own poll. 2% think Al Gore invented the internet. 54% think Al Gore is nuts. 93% are ready to move on to the next story.
