One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked how much he owed, and the barber replied, “I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.” The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
The next day, a cop came in for a haircut, and when he tried to pay his bill, the barber again replied, “I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.” The cop was happy and left the shop.
When the barber arrived at his shop the following morning, there was a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, “I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.” The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber arrived at work, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for free haircuts.
And that perfectly illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

just when we thought we couldn't come up with any suitable jokes, Ted Kennedy dies and saves the day! love the tweets
Dear IHateTheMedia Power Brokers,
I know you have been hated on, so I am passing on sage wisdom from my quieter half.
My husband's favorite response to well thought out and articulated criticism: "So?"
And if he wants to get really detailed: "That's what you think!"
Juvenile, but effective.
Simple enough for a liberal to understand? You're asking a lot.
I agree with Ray, that "simple enough for a liberal to understand" task is too tough for a Summer post. Maybe we can work on that assignment in the Fall after school starts.
If you all have any other short pieces like what we posted, that illustrate in terms simple enough even for a liberal to understand, please feel free to post them in this thread.
Great example with the haircuts. I'm probably pointing out the obvious, but it isn't just congressmen. Seems like a large portion of the citizenry have the same attitude. Heck, half the planet seems to think they're entitled.
Here is another joke for IHTM detractors:
A man walked into a very high-tech bar. As he sat down on a stool he
noticed that the bartender was a robot. The robot clicked to attention and
asked, "Sir, what will you have?"
The man thought a moment then replied, "A martini please."
The robot clicked a couple of times and mixed the best martini the man
had ever had.
The robot then asked, "Sir, what is your IQ?"
The man answered "oh, about 164."
The robot then proceeded to discuss the 'theory of relativity',
'inter-steller space travel', 'the latest medical break throughs',
etc.......
The man was most impressed. He left the bar but thought he would try a
different tact. He returned and took a seat. Again the robot clicked
and asked what he would have? "A Martini please."
Again it was superb. The robot again asked "what is your IQ sir?"
This time the man answered, "Oh about 100". So the robot started
discussing Nascar racing, the latest basketball scores, and what to expect the
Dodgers to do this weekend.
The guy had to try it one more time. So he left, returned and took a
stool.... Again a martini, and the question, "What is your IQ?"??
This time the man drawled out "Uh..... bout 50".
The robot clicked then leaned close and very slowly asked,
"A-r-e? y-o-u-r? p-e-o-p-l-e??? h-a-p-p-y? w-i-t-h O-B-A-M-A?????
I don't like to pull the race card, but given the circumstances, I think that this one is innappropriate. We can be critical of the administration without picking on a certain ethnicity. I think it works better if you would rephrase the punch line: Are you happy with Obama? or something similar.
Oy, you sound like john McCain! The joke is not even remotely racist.
Bending over backwards to be PC does not create greater equality, it just means you will be expected to bend even further the next time.
Dont fall into that trap.
That's my opinion and I'm stuck with it. But I'm not censoring you or calling anyone names, that's just how it struck me.
I didn't read the punch line that way, OCMadam. I thought "your people" was a reference to that group of numbskulls who voted for Obama. He won every ethnic group in the election, so it doesn't quite track for the robot to think the guy is black. But you may be right. Only Doug can tell us the actual intent of his punch line. Doug?
