Actor Liam Neeson invites fatwa, compares Mohammed to an animal

Hmmmm. Perhaps actor Liam Neeson hasn’t thought out his politically-correct comments thoroughly enough. He seems to be asking for a fatwa when he says his character in the Narnia movies could represent Mohammed.

Fatwa! Liam Neeson has compared Mohammed to an animal that licks its own...well...you know what cats do.

The Telegraph UK has the details of Neeson’s death wish:

The actor who voices the lion in the film adaptations of the books has angered some fans of the stories, who claim he is distorting Lewis’s intentions to be “politically correct”…

Lewis was clear that the Aslan was based on Christ, and once wrote of the character: “He is an invention giving an imaginary answer to the question: “What might Christ become like if there really were a world like Narnia?”.”
In the climax of the first book, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Aslan sacrifices his life to save Narnia, before rising from the dead, a plot which is widely believed to represent the crucifixion and the resurrection.

But ahead of the release of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third Narnia book to be made into a film, next week, Neeson said: “Aslan symbolises a Christlike figure, but he also symbolises for me Mohammed, Buddha and all the great spiritual leaders and prophets over the centuries…”

Liam Neeson just compared Mohammed to a filthy animal.

Congratulations, Liam. You may be the first person nominated for an Academy Award and a fatwa in the same year.

  • WTH?! My respect for him went down a million percent. It is quite obvious that Aslan is (a representation of) Christ in the story. I don't think Lewis could have been more vocal and more explicit than he was while he lived.

Liam Neeson is an idiot, it would have been better if he had said nothing and if he was asked the question he could have just said Aslan obviously represents Christ or a Christ like figure within the borders of the story as per the author's intentions and leave it at that.

If a fatwa is raised against him I will have no problem with that... sorry Neeson but I am done with you.

Mohammed didn't die for the muslims' salvation and neither did Buddha died for teh Buddhist salvation and no other religious or faith leader have died either for anyone and neither of them as far as I know can claim resurrection either...

    • No, the Greek religion isn't a 'religion of peace', so they don't call for the murder of people that disagree.

  • Sounds like Liam Neeson is trying to cover all the bases at one time. Jesus said HE was the only one way, one truth, and life.

Being a saint of the Lord Jesus I have come to a different worldview of American history.

A short story to explain. A nice family was growing up one of their children. This child grew up starting with good character, morals and kindness. This child started to get greedy and drifted to the darker side of life. Many warnings were given to the child; some heeded some not and usually after the warning went back to their bad behavior. The family decided to hire a bully to pound some sense back into the child. The bully was nasty, mean and uses evil ways to accomplish it’s goals. There was true love for the child and deep care that the child was going astray from good morals, which was the only reason to hire the bully. Some said that the bully was worse than the child and why should we hire an evil bully to beat sense into the good child? “It is the next to the last resort” was the answer. The bully was hired to beat the “good person” into some “good sense” and go back to the “good character”.

The family is God, the child is America, the bully is Islamic terrorists. The last resort is total war.

One alternate is that all in the USA turn to God. God does say that when a human's ways please God HE makes the enemies to leave.

    • Parables of Saint Tommy! Well done if slightly adolescent in its base, but that fits the desired end. Good work. You're gonna have a tough sell in this wicked land. I'm signed in for a direct distributorship so, well, how shall I proceed?

      • Well tommy description is not necessarily adolescent all in all he is describing the prophet Isaiah's writings. Historically and Eschatological in nature, both ways to read the book includes the knowledge that the King of Assyria (the King of Babylon) & the Antichrist are mandated by G-d Himself to destroy the wicked and allow people to enter into repentance mode. They are described as G-d's arm of chastening and punishment. If you mean that the description was oversimplified... I don't see that but oh well.

      • I fear my country is headed towards Islam Babylon.

If we wont acknowledge God for his goodness and grace he has shown this country, maybe we will seek him when enslaved to the harsh master of Islam.
