Actor Liam Neeson invites fatwa, compares Mohammed to an animal

Hmmmm. Perhaps actor Liam Neeson hasn’t thought out his politically-correct comments thoroughly enough. He seems to be asking for a fatwa when he says his character in the Narnia movies could represent Mohammed.

Fatwa! Liam Neeson has compared Mohammed to an animal that licks its own...well...you know what cats do.

The Telegraph UK has the details of Neeson’s death wish:

The actor who voices the lion in the film adaptations of the books has angered some fans of the stories, who claim he is distorting Lewis’s intentions to be “politically correct”…

Lewis was clear that the Aslan was based on Christ, and once wrote of the character: “He is an invention giving an imaginary answer to the question: “What might Christ become like if there really were a world like Narnia?”.”
In the climax of the first book, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Aslan sacrifices his life to save Narnia, before rising from the dead, a plot which is widely believed to represent the crucifixion and the resurrection.

But ahead of the release of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third Narnia book to be made into a film, next week, Neeson said: “Aslan symbolises a Christlike figure, but he also symbolises for me Mohammed, Buddha and all the great spiritual leaders and prophets over the centuries…”

Liam Neeson just compared Mohammed to a filthy animal.

Congratulations, Liam. You may be the first person nominated for an Academy Award and a fatwa in the same year.

Holy Moly! Just wait ‘til the radical Muslims see the Mohammed Image Archive

The Mohammed Image Archive has archived hundreds, maybe thousands of drawings of the Muslim prophet. Many not that Islamist jihads wouldlike.

Crybaby Muhammad. Just one of the hundreds of illustrations found in the Mohammed Image Archive

Our Everybody Draw Al Gore Day competition is spreading across the internet. It has more than 5,400 7,300 Google references now. We don’t know if we’ll actually get any entries, but we’ll get some laughs.

Of course, our idea is a parody of Seattle artist Molly Norris’ brilliant “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day.” But Norris quickly canceled that Allah image event out of fatwah phobia.

Fear not, Molly. The Mohammed Image Archive makes our little contests look like…well…little contests. It has archived hundreds, maybe thousands of images and pictures of the Muslim prophet. And at last report, the curator is still enjoying good health.

ZombieTime.com illustrates the story:

The Mohammed Image Archive is a compendium of images that depict Mohammed (the 7th-century founder of Islam), spanning all historical periods, cultures and genres.

The inspiration for this Archive came from the global controversy over the publication of Mohammed cartoons in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, and the need for a comprehensive and even-handed look at the wide variety of Mohammed depictions in Islamic and Western societies from the Middle Ages until today. It will remain online as a resource for those interested in freedom of expression.

This website has Mohammed drawings galore. So many, in fact, that they are divvied up into categories like Islamic Depictions of Mohammed in Full, Islamic Depictions of Mohammed with Face Hidden, European Medieval and Renaissance Images, Dante’s Inferno, Book Covers, Satirical Modern Cartoons, The Jyllands-Posten Cartoons, and our personal favorite, Extreme Mohammed. Allah images, Muhammad pictures, it’s got it all.

Holy friggin’ fatwah.

Happy Everybody Draw Muhammad Day! – May 20, 2010

Announcing “Everybody Draw Al Gore Day”

So since Seattle artist Molly Norris killed “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day” when she realized that Muslim fanatics mean business, IHateTheMedia.com has decided to continue
the spirit of the idea by announcing “EVERYBODY DRAW AL GORE DAY!”

95,000 descendants of Mohammed looking for big bucks, sue over cartoons

NEARLY 95,000 descendants of Mohammed are going to sue 10 newspapers for publishing “blasphemous” cartoons of the prophet.

mohammed cartoons

If you can’t blow ‘em up, sue ‘em. That seems to be the philosophy of 95,000 direct descendants of Mohammed.

News.com.au has the details of the sordid suit:

NEARLY 95,000 descendants of Mohammed are going to sue 10 newspapers for publishing “blasphemous” cartoons of the prophet.

Faisal Yamani, a Saudi lawyer acting for the descendants, claims that the cartoons – which first appeared in 2005 and caused violent protests by Muslims around the world – are defamatory.

One of the 12 cartoons depicts Mohammed wearing a bomb-shaped turban.

The Sunday Times said that although the cartoons were published by Danish newspapers, Mr Yamani plans to pursue legal action in England, where libel laws are weighted towards the plaintiff.

English lawyers expect that he will argue that the cartoons were published in Britain via the internet and are a direct slur on his clients, who live in the Middle East, north Africa and even Australia.

Mark Stephens, a British lawyer who saw Mr Yamani’s missive to the newspapers, told The Sunday Times: “Direct descendants of the prophet have a particular place within Muslim society … By effectively criticising and making fun of the prophet you are, by implication, holding them up to scandal, contempt and public ridicule.

Just a little unsolicited advice from the legal wizards at IHateTheMedia.com: If the dynamite vest fits, you must acquit.
