We doubt that Dr. Robert Jeffress, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas, will be invited back on Contessa Brewer’s show anytime soon. Not after the way he destroyed Brewer on Wednesday.
The subject was the proposed mosque at Ground Zero. Jeffress compared it to building a Shinto shrine at Pearl Harbor. Hilarity ensued when Brewer said that 9/11 had nothing to do with Islam. That’s when Jeffress took Brewer apart.
“Well, Contessa,” Jeffress said, “I’ve just been listening to your broadcast for the last few minutes. You talked about ten Christian relief workers gunned down by Muslim gunmen. You talked about this woman who was beaten to death because she broke Islamic law. You talked about attacks being launched in a German Mosque. I think Americans are beginning to realize these are not in opposition to Islamic teaching. But these followers of Islam are obeying the 35 verses in the Koran that call for radical violence against the infidels.”
Brewer spent the rest of the segment saying, “Yeah, but…yeah, but…yeah, but….”

That would be an interesting accomplishment, being as Obama talks poorly about his nation in his (in)capacity as President, which I would think would give the US a considerably poorer reputation than one baptist preacher in one interview.
The ad hominem attack on clergy is also unwarranted. I've met plenty of clergy who do not desire this. I can't speak for all of them, but, hey, apparently *you* can.

Personally, if we have a bad reputation in the eyes of most of the rest of the world, since most of the rest of the world happens to be enslaved in communism or some other form of tyranny, a bad reputation in their eyes is something to be desired, not deplored as your post implies.

The actual mosque near the area of Ground Zero is not necessarily a bad thing UNLESS the people BEHIND the construction of such a mosque have even the most tenous of ties to radicalism, terrorism, jihad or extreme sharia laws.
Glenn was very good in making a case that in this case the people behind this center ARE people who have very important ties to terrorist groups and hence why it shouldn't be built.
I think that if this center were to be open to ALL people not just muslims where people are invited to come in and learn about the religion and how it is not as the terrorists define it good, but again if the people behind them were not tied to radicalist and fundamentalist... again in this case that seems to be the situation and hence why it shouldn't be built.
Going back to Contessa, is she listening to the news? she herself spent some times DESCRIBING radical and fundamentalist in the Islam religion committing great amounts of atrocities on people, yet she has the gall to say that it should be okay for the religion that was represented by the people who committed the murders in 9/11 be featured around the area... Sure not all muslims are crazy, but the people that did it were crazy and part of that religion, allowing a building to be built near the site that honors that religion is preposterous.
I know deep inside of my soul that if the terrorists had been "christians" who screamed Hail King Jesus! as they crashed into the buildings no one will be okay and happy and accepting and loving of a church being built near the site or a cross being anywhere near the site. Although of course the idea alone of anything like that happening is preposterous, you get my point.
So if this isn't a question of freedom of religion, then are saying that we shouldn't restrict muslims to practice their religion?
If you are saying that we should limit them, then how do you think this can work with the freedoms in the constitution?
So what you are trying to say is that regardless of what happened and how the families, friends and neighbors of those that died that day feel, they should build? So let me get this straight... If people professing to be Christians had blown up the towers with two airplanes and killed thousands of people would you be okay with a cross being near the site or a church or a Christian only center be built near the site (when it wasn't there before)? Of course not. You would not want that, and if the government be it the mayor of New York City or the President claimed that a church being built by a pastor who had radical ties and the money to build it was suspect, have the right to build there you would scream "separation of church and state" immediately, to prevent any government support for it. You are an hypocrite. What about the christian church that was not allowed to RE-BUILD after it was destroyed? What about THEIR religious rights?
The key part of what you just wrote was "professing to say" - which is different from what is real. These are crazy people who say they did this in the name of something but they aren't representative of the whole. Just like you said earlier that if someone killed someone else in the name of Christianity, you wouldn't say they were Christian.

Interesting coming from you when you said earlier that there are such a thing as extremist christianss. It is true that not all muslims are radicals, extremists and fundamentalists. No one is saying that all muslims are like the terrorists. This is not what this is about, it is about building a building that REPRESENTS the religion that the people involved in 09/11 professed to be NEAR the area where they committed mass murder. You haven't answered the question you would not want anything christianity related near the area had the people who done it in any way shape or form professed to be Christians. Regardless of the FACT that Christians would not be okay with those actions and would quickly repudiated and those that would do it would not be representative of the religion nor the faith you would still not want it because first you are a liberal and second because it would be a reminder of the religion that the people professed to be. It is called decorum, it is called caring for the feelings of those who suffered that day and continue to miss their relatives and friends.
The reason why the majority of muslims are not killing people left and right is because they decided to be moderate and not adopt the most fundamentalist parts of their religion whereas the fundamentalist in their religion fully embrace. However there are still growing numbers here in the US of men who embrace sharia law and have killed or have intended to kill their own children or family members due to behaviors that in this country are fully acceptable.

Fox News says that a Greek Orthodox (Christian) Church was destroyed (completely) on 9/11/01. After all this time they haven't yet gotten permission to rebuild... YET this muslim center has gotten the green light... WTH?!?!

Very interesting, good food, I met many people & had some interesting conversations with other guests. The music was interesting as well, but since I don't speak Persian, I don't know what the lyrics were. That's right, almost everyone there was Iranian. Many of whom got out of Iran during the revolution in 1979, & they had some interesting opinions from a perspective that I cannot completely understand. I enjoyed that night & learned a fair bit as well.
