There was no reason not to send someone and send everything readily available. Poppajoe is right. When Americans are in trouble and danger, you send everyone!!!!

From the very beginning, I was screaming at the TV "I DON'T GIVE A FUCK IF THEY CAN GET THERE IN TIME, YOU SEND SOMEONE, NO MATTER WHAT!".
I still stand by that. It doesn't matter if Hitlery THINKS we can't get help there in time, you send people to TRY!
There is no way anyone with even a casual knowledge of our military, would believe we didn't have anyone close enough to help.
I know I said this before. All regional commands have "on the shelf" reaction scenarios for every conceivable incident that may occur. Those which have a higher likelihood of happening, are practiced and staffed so that assets are available when needed. This Benghazi attack was not novel or an unexpected possibility. So when I heard "no one was available, no assets within 12 hours of whatever" I knew it was a lie. Why more guys haven't spoken out, I don't know. I know speaking the truth can be a career ending event, but there are always people who know who are leaving or have left by now. If I had direct knowledge, I'd speak out, I'm retired. Come on brothers......
