Biden: Obama Considering ‘Executive Order’ to Deal With Guns From the comments on Youtube: “I watched a movie once about a society where only the military and police had guns. It was called Schindler’s List.” We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves. As goes the 2nd Amendment so goes the Constitution.

    White House Task Force Meeting

    Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.

    We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners - honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works - and what does not.

  • I am not an NRA member mainly because I dont really have a great story to tell about Charlton Heston, whom I went to see speak when I was younger and I went behind the scenes as it were for a cocktail hour and he was there. I think I was 19 at the time which was a while back. I now he is dead so whatever... I want to give him the benefit of the doubt that he was not a racist and was just surprised to see me there, but considering that I didn't feel right to be there and he made me feel that way, I couldn't really see myself belonging to that group.

    THEN I saw the Michael Moore movie and although I have no respect for MM, I have to say that I wasn't that surprised to hear Heston say what he said. Again I could give him the benefit of the doubt and excuse him for being old and whatever, but I think he had problems and again even though I do believe in the second amendment and I appreciate there is an organization that seeks to protect that, I can't in good conscience associate myself with an organization that so far as far as I know has no leaders who are Black or minorities and I personally didn't feel welcomed as it were.

        Again he was old, he probably had mental issues or senility and I understand that he probably was very civil rights minded when he was younger. Again I do want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I just can't at least not just like that on the issue of race.

        I do not support nor like Michael Moore so I am not defending MM in any way shape or form I am just going with Heston's words here alone. MM is disgusting and idiotic. He is completely wrong on this issue. I agree with Charlton Heston on here for the most part as I did when he gave his speech all those years ago, it is just that part that I felt icky about and of course adding to that my own experience I just felt... you know.

Overall, to state that because of minorities (on a great part) we are having these issues, it was the wrong thing to say and it made him look racist even if he wasn't.         In the end though I have a heck of a lot more respect for Heston than MM.

          • I dont know how long it takes for Alzheimers to set in and if he had it when I had my not so great experience (I dont know when he died but it was a long time before and before this movie), and again even though I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, he did not make me feel welcome and I felt quite uncomfortable there and that was without caring that I was in essence the only black person in a room full of over a dozen people. That didn't bother me until he got there. So again I actually have a personal reference here, I am not talking out of my ass in any case because of that more than the BFC movie I did not see myself being a member of that groupand the fact that they lack leaders who are minorities was another reason as I got older.

          • Well, even if he was prejudiced, you can't hang that on all the NRA members any more than Jamie Foxx getting to kill all the white people comment about Django on SNL can be hung on all black people.

            My step daughter knows very well what's like to be the only black person in the room, she doesn't let it bother her.

            We have even had trouble with some of the local idiots, probably wannabe KKK members.

            One neighbors care-taker harassed her for a couple of weeks on and off. We finally called the cops on her. (You should appreciate the irony that the white cop who took the report and dealt with her was married to a black woman). She got chewed for that one. Then she actually hit the next door neighbor when she got mad at him and got fired finally.

            One nutcase at a restaurant one time sat outside the booth window and started making faces at us. When we all laughed she got PO'ed and left.

            Yes even in California, land of multiculturalism, there's plenty of wierdos.

          • Well first off people need to calm down. It is not that deep, it is a personal opinion that is backed up by personal experience even though ideologically speaking I understand and agree with the NRA if not completely s someone stated above their support of liberals who do everything else but the second amendment wrong. I find that weird.

            Second, I am not hanging anything on the NRA members. I didn't say that I thought all NRA members were like him. I just stating simply that his behavior did not make me excited to promptly join the group. Had his behavior been different I would have. I am not stupid and I have many times stated the same thing that you are saying.

            He was the leader at the time, he was the face of the organization. Since he left it, I have considered joining however like I said TWICE already and it seems you sidestepped that, it lacks minority and Black leaders (that I know of at this point in time), what I mean by that it lacks unfortunately people that all people can identify with or that can look up to. I have a problem with that just as I have a problem with organizations like ACORN and other liberal organizations that lack seriously Black and minority leadership. I find that to be bad. However, it is possible they have minority leadership at this point in time. If/when the NRA has leadership people that is more diverse I think it would elevate its status and definetly get out of the this is for old white males republican thing which is a bad look.

            LIKE I ALSO SAID, I wasn't bother being the only Black person in the room until he came in and looked me up and down with what I felt was disdain and disgust and completely ignored me as he spoke with other people in the considerably medium size room. His body language was all wrong and I felt like I was doing something wrong by being there. Even others in my group felt it and told me if I was okay. I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially since he died and was sick and what not, thinking that perhaps that he was surprised but that is not the feeling that I had at the time and it doesn't explain why he didn't speak to me or even say hi to me and shake my hand as he was doing the others in the room. It was highly uncomfortable. I have been the only person of color and of different cultrue or country in many rooms throughout my life and I have been fine with it, so I definetly don't need to be lectured on that by anyone. I have also been discriminated by all kinds of reasons and all kinds of people here, abroad and online, that is not the point.

            The point is that th eman made me uncomfortable, I believed at the time it was racial on his part, I was not turned on to the NRA because of that. As I grew older I saw that it lacked minority leadership and even though I do excuse the fact that he was sick and old at the time, I wasn't surprised (even though I seriously dislike MM) that Heston veered towards the minorities being a big reason for gun violence in this country. Now we do know the stats on gun violence and so on, but as a representative still at the time, he could have said something differently or presented his case differently, but again he gets excused because he was old and sick and he didn't know Moore's agenda.

            FYI my step daughter tried to get me into the local black businessman's club. They were hot to trot until they found out I was white.

            Regarding Heston. I didn't know him, perhaps he was prejudiced. You were there, not me. I was only considering there may be another reason. Could just be he was a fathead like most other celebrities and thought his poop didn't smell. I don't know. Could be all of the above.

  • The MSM (surprisingly) had a stroy last night about the FBI crime statistics on causes of homicides. Knives led thepack, followed by fist/feet, hammers and a couple of other weapons. Guns were at the bottom. only 2.something percent were caused by guns. You cannot legislate sanity. And insanity in its many frms, is the problem, not the guns. I have never seen or even heard of a gun getting out of its safe or locked drawer, load itself, and go on a shooting spree. Mind you, I am not saying it has never happened, but I haven't been aware. Gun control laws do NOTHING to decrease gun violence, only prevent normal people from protection for themsleves, their homes and families, and just partcipation in a cool hobby. And I am tired of the current dictator bypassing Congress to advance his agenda. Where is the SCOTUS? Aren't any of these executive orders considered unconstitutional?

      Executive orders are the tool of dictators.
      If Obama wants to continue being a dick, then that will be his legacy.

    The responsible American gun owner is not stupid. We all know what this move is about. It's about disarming and then enslaving. If barry, joey and the rest on the life are genuine in their concerns for the lives of the innocent, them plan parenthood should be immediately defended and declared unconstitutional. Plan parenthood kills more innocent lives in a single day than any other type of murder. By its on reports, they do an abortion once every 94 seconds. That comes to a rounded number of 38 per hour. Multiply that by 24 and the number for a whole day is 912. So from that simple math equation plan parenthood qualifies as a mass murder. Most of its procedures are conducted in urban poor neighborhoods. Mean minorities and the poor.

    Before anyone here starts to call me a cave man. There are times that an abortion must be performed. It's sad but true. However, as a form of birth control NO WAY should it be for that. Condoms are sold every where today and even the ladies buy them now. Simple birth control and the abortion rate drops.

    Now back to this Marxist move. If its done, the current Illinois occupant will be the second president from that state to have a civil war on his hands. The question will be. How many in the US Military will follow his unlawful orders? Will anyone from his UN buddies come and bail his ass out? Will his loony wood friends rally around him? My answer is HELL NO on all three.

      It only happens sometimes that the link won't take, but this method works every time.

  • Typically these folks propose the most outrageous things at first to set the tone of the discussion. Once people react to the initial over-the-top suggestions, they propose something less drastic and say they are being very reasonable about it. This is how they set the narrative and win the issue. Example we might see in the next few days: No, no, the president is not going to issue any executive orders (outrageous proposal). But we are strongly backing a law (Lefty "reasonable proposal") where everyone is fingerprinted and registered who owns guns, and prohibitions on owning certain kinds of ammo, and....

    The only way to defeat them is to strongly oppose ANY idea they offer on constitutional grounds and tell them if they want a change there is a process already in place - amend the constitution. Call them out and say unless they want to propose a new amendment they don't have the courage of their convictions. The left would never get such an amendment through 2/4 of the state legislatures, so they try to get around the issue by bullying congress to chip away at the issue. Sadly, we do not have enough men of courage in Washington to stand up so. I heard McConnell in the senate say they first had to wait and see what the democrats propose. Being proactive and vocally opposed to any of this nonsense was not even being considered as an option.

    • THIS is why I support the NRA's refusal to budge on anything. Look at what happened to smokers rights over the past 25 years. At the beginning, people said "they will never stop people from smoking at work". Wrong. Then, they will never ban smoking in restaurants. Wrong. They will never ban smoking in BARS. Wrong. They will never ban smoking on the street, in your car, in your house... all of those have either been done, or has been tried in some ultra-liberal locations.

      These people are willing to take how ever long it takes to get their own way. It's like a freaking GAME to them. And they will chip, chip, chip away at something till they get what they want.

      Take away AR-15s? Why not? No one needs them - they are a menace to society, and can't be used for hunting, blah blah blah. But if the government gets away with THAT, they WILL come back for more. So, the NRA's "stand your ground" position is exactly what we, as a free society, need. More than anything, to be honest, because all of those other bans and stupid decisions are annoying, but guns mean the difference between being a a citizen and being a slave.
