Balls the size of musk melons: Chris Christie invites Illinois companies to move to New Jersey

The Governor of New Jersey has balls. Big balls. Balls the size of musk melons. He needs to have his pants specially-tailored just to accommodate them.

Illinois has spent its way to the edge of the fiscal abyss and the state legislature’s solution is to increase taxes by 66%. So Chris Christie is swooping in like a buzzard on roadkill and running radio commercials in Illinois that invite the state’s businesses to pack up and move to New Jersey, where he promises no new taxes.

Warning: Do not stand at the state border. You may be trampled in the stampede.

  • Me not really understand question, but me try anyway...
The corporation must file a corporate tax return, IRS Form 1120, and pay taxes at a corporate income tax rate on any profits. If a corporation owes taxes, it must estimate the amount of tax due for the year and make quarterly payments to the IRS in April, June, September, and January. I use to make these quarterly payments using the 1099 form as a sub contractor.
A corporation can deduct many of its business expenses. Money the corporation spends in the legitimate pursuit of profit. In addition to start-up costs, operating expenses, and product and advertising outlays, a corporation can deduct the salaries and bonuses it pays and all of the costs associated with medical and retirement plans for employees.
Unless of course the corporation is set up in the Caymen Islands in which case it can wholly operate in the United States without paying any federal taxes. At last count there are more than 500 U.S. Corporations employing the dead-beat Caymen Island tactic.
If a corporation distributes dividends to the owners, they must report and pay personal income tax on these amounts. Unless "trickle down" is in effect which all but eliminates capital gains taxes, which is what stocks and bond payments are conisdered to be.

    • As I expected, you missed the point of the question entirely, while trying to act like it was a stupid question. You want to try again? Where do ALL tax monies come from? Think real hard.

      • The question was not "where do all tax monies come from"

The question, (and I am pasting your exact words here) was: "maybe you could tell us who actually pays the taxes that are collected from corporations? Does it come from the corporate bottom line, maybe you think that the CEO pays corporate taxes out of his pocket?"

As you can see these are two completely different questions. I answered the question you posed. Then you respond with a completely different question and pretend I dodged it. Tell me, are you always so detached from reality?

O.k. I'll play along with your little game just to see where you're going with this, no doubt you have some master plan to trap me with inescapable logic.
All tax money comes from a wide variety of sources. Some tax money is taken directly from income. Some is assessed as fees for telephone or electric use. Other tax money comes from businesses and corporations. And then sometimes other tax money comes from inheritence or lottery winnings. States, generate a lot of their revenue from sales taxes and municipalities generate much of their revenue from property taxes. Can I name every source or circumstance in which taxes are paid? certainly not but I think I've covered enough of it. Is that good enough? If not, then whay don't you just post the exact words you want me to say, I'll then re-post them and you can finally make your point. Will that work?

  • It's the race to the bottom folks. In case you haven't noticed, while most people have had a harder time over the last ten years big business and corporations have made tremendous profits.
    Now they need tax breaks?
So what's Christie going to do if all these businesses move to NJ, pay no taxes, and externalize all their costs on the public? (which is what every business does) He's going to have to tax everyone else. Somebody has to pick up the check. One way or another somebody has to pay to make society run. If it's not big business then who? Millionaires? Middle Class? Workers?

    • Pay attention now, SV. He didn't say no corporate taxes. You can quit spouting the liberal lie that corporations don't pay taxes. We've all heard it before, but were smart enough to look at the numbers and realize that it's a lie. Besides, since you're so smart, maybe you could tell us who actually pays the taxes that are collected from corporations? Does it come from the corporate bottom line, maybe you think that the CEO pays corporate taxes out of his pocket? Go ahead, show us your intelligence level.

  • Illnois - the most corrupt state in the nation, the home to the US Communists organization and now the best for screwing their residents and business in the ass! What a great state. No wonder Obama is moving his re-election campaign their.

  • Mr. Open-Borders may be anti-2nd Amendment but he sure knows how to run a business. That's what cabinet members and advisers are for, not chief executives.

  • My husband is a collegue of someone who once went to school with the Hon. Gov. Christie. I'm from Texas - we, once upon a time, didn't much care for our milquetoast Gov. Perry. I think he has been emboldened by the likes of Gov. Christie and Texas' economic performance. All states would be well served to take note. It's not rocket science for heaven's sake. Look at models that work.

  • IL also raised the corporate income tax (again) . I am amazed that any companies keep there HQs in IL. I am also amazed that any company licenses their fleet of vehicles in IL. They don't have the highest licensing cost by any means but they keep raising it every few years. Oh and I would like to point out Obama is not a product of IL. He is a product of Chicago. They are 2 completely different places.

FWIW NJ is in almost as bad as shape as IL financially. We all know what happened the last time we read someones lips as they said "No New Taxes". It is one thing to say it, quite another to do it. Then when you factor in the unions, there probably are 40 better states to move to rather than NJ.
