Sadly many people will support Obama on this issue because they live in a post-Christian America and they're getting more free stuff from the government.
This will be a test of the remaining political power of the Catholic Church and other conservative denominations, if they lose we're all in real trouble. Churches, synagogues and mosques are among the few institutions that still intervene between the individual and the unlimited power of the State.

This is not about the Church wanting to override the government or whatever, but it is about protecting freedoms. Once the government OVERREACHES in one thing it will continue to overreach on everything else and soon NO ONE has rights.
Its about the Government trying to override churches. I personally don't have an issue with birth control. But if the Catholic church teaches that birthcontol is a sin, then why should they be forced to provide it? Are they going to make Mormons start providing booze and caffeinated drinks?

What nonsense! Christian civilization had been taking care of the poor for centuries while you lefties were still dancing around in your love beads in the 60s. Christian compassion still does incredible good in the world. It was the Church that set up the first Universities. It was the Church who set up the first hospitals. It was the Church who was the first patron of science. You seem like a typical product of modern education who doesn't know much history beyond spouting bumper sticker slogans about how faith and religion are responsible for all the evil in the world. Why don't you go into China, Cuba, and the Eastern bloc countries and tell them how religion is responsible for tyranny?
Seriously. The words hotel, hospice and hostelry all came from Catholic institutions proividing care to the ones no one else cared about. The destitute, the ill, the young and the old. Don't always agree with the Roman Church's politics, but they have provided a great deal of care over the centuries.
Every SINGLE despot has done it. From the ancient Egyptians stating the Pharaoh was a god, through the Caesars, through 20th century tyrants until now. Islam is the perfect example of a state theocracy where in all reality the theo in theocracy is not really governing but the people in the state supposedly speaking for the deity. It is the oldest thing in the book and people just never learn. When they come for your personal faiths and belief systems in order to corraled them into the government ranch, that is the time you need to shout that tyranny is afoot and do something about it.
