Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pressed Americans on Wednesday to donate money to flood relief efforts in Pakistan, saying she is leading by example and just made a $10 donation herself.
“I just texted a contribution myself, because we know from our own experience, particularly in Haiti, small donations can add up to make a big difference,” Clinton told reporters on Wednesday.
“Americans have always shown great generosity to people facing crises worldwide. So I urge Americans to join this effort and send some much needed help to the people of Pakistan.”
Clinton urged people to text the word “SWAT” to the number, 50555, and reply “yes” when asked to confirm, in order to make a $10 donation to help the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees.
Sure, about 95% of every dollar we send to Pakistan goes straight to a budget line item called “Corruption”, but c’mon Madame Secretary of State, a little perspective is in order here. $10 isn’t much.
Maybe you could have thrown in a little fruit punch and a few leftover pieces of that $11,000 wedding cake you bought for Chelsea’s wedding.
That could have fed about 1,000,000 starving Pakistanis for a month.

All I did was to fill in the facts that weren't provided by this story's author. Anyone could tell that this wasn't the complete representation of the facts on the issue, so I did a simple internet search & found out the complete story just as you could have done. I'm not here to cut down one side or the other, but am just tired of the smears and name calling by both sides. Since you asked, I looked for info regarding a larger Clinton donation to this cause and didn't find any.BUT ... I also didn't find any donations (not even $10) given by Hannity, Limbaugh, OReilly, Levin, Coulter, Morris, Rupert Murdoch, or any other wealthy conservative . That doesn't mean that none of them gave to this cause, just that there is no info on it. Please just take a deep breath & relax, some of us are just looking for a little civility & wouldn't mind the same in return.
Alan, show us the documentation that makes you so "sure" that the Clintons donated more than $10.
Nothing like taking something out of context. I'm sure they Clintons donated more than $10 Pakistan relief. Her $10 donation was an example to show others how to donate something they could afford. Would you rather her say "I just donated $100,000 to Pakistan, here is how you can do the same."
How about, "This is such an important cause that Bill and I are donating $100,000. We realize that not everyone can give as much as we can, but you don't have to. Even $10 will help. Why would you want to tell the whole story & ruin a perfectly good talking point. Secretary of State Clinton was at a news conference to announce a multimillion $$ US donation to help the flood victims in Pakistan & promote the texting venture as a way for concerned citizens to make donations in $5 & $10 amounts. Of course there is no mention of the context of her donation, the purpose of which was to demonstrate the texting option & which could only be made in these small increments. Why can't you simply report the entire story and let people form their judgements from the facts instead of distorting the facts and leading people to an errant conclusion? Sorry, almost forgot which website I was on ... my mistake.
