CNN covers Schwarzenegger paternity scandal 23/7

CNN loves the new Arnold Schwarzenegger story. On Tuesday night it covered the former California governor’s paternity scandal at least once every hour.

Well, that’s not quite accurate. We should have said “at least once every hour with the notable exception of one hour.”

The reason Eliot Spitzer doesn't talk about Arnold Schwarzenegger's sex scandal

NewsBusters delivers the specifics:

During its 5 p.m.-12 a.m. EDT coverage, CNN reported the story every hour except during the 8 p.m. EDT slot – the prime-time show In the Arena with Eliot Spitzer. Spitzer made no mention of the story.

Spitzer was embroiled in a scandal of his own just three years ago as governor of New York. A federal wiretap linked him to a high-end prostitution ring, and he resigned his office abruptly after the news was made public…

Spitzer did find time to offer extensive coverage of IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s rape allegations. He also hosted for a sympathetic interview the CEO of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, Rick Welts, who has publicly revealed that he is gay.

Our best guess? Spitzer is offended that he had to pay for it, but Arnold didn’t.

  • I dont underestimate how hurt Maria is. Whatever she's done, whatever her family has done, I just feel so sorry for her. Sometimes marriages dont survive these kind of revelations.

And sometimes there are no winners, only alot of losers.

    • Well I am sure that she never deserved this man and his behavior. That can go without saying. She was betrayed and no matter what she as an individual didn't deserve this humiliating betrayal and their children neither. The one that in my humble opinion is at the most hurt here is the little boy who pretty much was raised without a father even though he was right there, who didn't get to grow up with siblings even though they were right there and whose Mother will be called a whore and a gold digger by evil children who go to school with the boy. So sad.

  • Despite i be away from from USA, it seems north americans never read the old testament, specialy the Genesis.. Of course, the womens are always guilty. None man can betray his woman without contribuition of another woman. Thats the inconvenient truth and in none of the cases related by Mr. Parker they´re innocents. Where´s the money, there will be always a woman waiting a ease way to put your hands on it. LOL

    • You ought to be locked up. You're a danger to everyone around you if you cannot control yourself in the presence of a woman.

It takes a very small person to blame women for their own unfaithfulness. As I always say, "you can't cheat an honest man, and an honest man won't cheat".

  • what convenience for Anorld-finish ya business-get up out of bed-tell her clean the sheets and make the bed and leave-kinda cuts out middle man sorta-ya paying already for the one thing-throw in the other-never have to explain to wifey why shes in the house-in the bedroom-or even why she has ya dirty undies in her hand- if only he had run his state with such savvy-california might not be such a shithole after his eight years-

  • He paid all right. He's going to be paying for a long time. No prenup (if they had one) will stand up to what he did (ask Tiger Woods about how prenups are tossed in the trash when Mr. Happy sneaks outside the zipper) and California community property laws mean that Maria is going to skate with about 150 million of Arnie's dollars, maybe more.

    • Welcome back Ms. Newman. Or it is Miss, Missus, Ma'am, whatever the current "politically correct" term is for a woman these days. The hell with that, how you doing Teri!

I know very well how much the Terminator is going to pay and in my case "Mr. Happy" never snuck out. I have a funny mental problem called "fidelity" but it did me no good. I have been paying, and paying, and paying again since my divorce last year and we had no children together, just us from day one. One more month and my "spousal support" will be done and I will finally have a little money in my pocket at the end of the month.

The old saying is I got the screwing I got for the screwing I got. No more for me! I finally figured out that women are good for two things only and I already know how to cook.

      • Thank goodness I live in a community property state. Spousal support is an anachronism. It is certainly a possibility if the husband works and the wife stays at home, but I know of several able bodied women who use it as private welfare.

Really, it keeps couples together that have no business staying together.

        • New Mexico law is an anachronism in itself. I am retired and have a fairly good income from that. I also work, for about the same money I was making in 1979, because I like doing instead of sitting around. My ex is an accountant who has owned her business for over 30 years.

According to the judge in our case I needed to give her half of my retirement pay for one year, spousal support, so she could learn how to take care of her own finances. When I asked "your honor" just who the hell he thought had been taking care of our finances all those years, me or the accountant, he got a little miffed and my lawyer sat me down and told me to shut up. Oh well, life goes on.

New Mexico is a community property state too. She got the home that was paid for, I got the vacation house we bought to get away from it all. She gets to live in town, I get to live on the shore of a great bass, catfish, and walleye lake. We, me now, only owed two more years on the mortage so maybe I got the best part of the deal in the long run.

          • Ah, the law. Take two people that are truly miserable together, and try to force them to be together by making them more miserable. At least there's an end date, though. That, and walleye. I like walleye. That's a regular ol' briar patch you've got there, dude. May all landings be that (relatively) soft.

          • Well lesson from others have taught me that I am getting a pre-nup regardless of how we start out.

          • You know, I don't want you to get the idea that all marriages (or even most) are like whiskeyrivers' or mine. I can't speak for his, but in my case, we were two people that should not have gotten married in the first place -- and stayed together much too long.

If you want to be married happily, here are some of my thoughts.

Pick someone that sees the world as you do. Never, EVER tell yourself "oh, he'll change". He won't. However, you will -- you'll stop thinking the world of him.

Don't get married because you've been dating a long time and this seems like the logical thing to do. You are uniting as a family -- and ESPECIALLY if there are children, not taking the "is he marriageable?" question seriously will yield a dividend of hurt later.

Listen to your parents and people that love you, who see the relationship without a pair of eyes clouded by love (or infatuation). Never hold their opinion against them, and never betray their trust -- you may decide to go ahead, and you don't want your spouse viewing your support network as the enemy. My mom tried to tell me that sh*thead was wrong for me, and why. I chose not to listen (kept the trust, though). I should've listened.

Read/subscribe/listen to Dr. Laura. Maybe the lefties ridicule her, but that woman knows more about the mechanics of a good, solid, happy marriage than any of them ever will -- they ridicule that which they do not understand.

Look for and make friends with couples who have good, satisfying marriages, full of love, warmth, and tenderness. See how they treat each other. Be open and honest with them, and tell them that you admire and respect them for that -- not only does it strengthen their marriage, but their help and advice later on would be invaluable.

Never get advice from people in unhappy marriages -- unless you want yours to be unhappy, too. (And why in the h*** would anybody want that?)

All relationships take work -- but I can tell you the difference -- the work it took to keep things going between sh*thead and me was a monster pain in the ass, and I resented every bit of it. However, the things I do to keep my angel happy bring me as much joy as they do to her, maybe more.

You'll do well, girl. You've got a good head on your shoulders, and when you find the man you deserve, you will find the best years of your life are ahead of you. Many blessings!

          • Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I know that not all marriages are a dud, however I do come from a broken home so it doesn't hurt to be real that things can happen... but not with the attitude that they will happen. What I will do is keep it real, your advice is sound in every way. Thanks again!

  • Ahnold is more liberal than conservative so this overexposure is because he calls himself a Republican that is all. I congratulate Fox for not exploiting the issue again and again and yesterday's interview with Michael Reagan on the issue was very interesting.

  • If CNN were actually a news channel, they could focus on a more important piece of slap and tickle - the champagne socialist (in the US, he would be a limosine liberal) IMF president whose legal troubles may end up changing the course of the various minor European economic crises that have been going on for a while and are sounding like echos of the 1930s. So they could actually report on something important while satisfying their need for salacious headlines, instead of wasting everybody's time chewing on the carcass of a failed California governator.

But CNN is not actually a news channel.

  • Given his propensity for impregnating woman around him maybe we should call him the Sperminator!
