If we were giving out awards for the dumbest friggin’ question of 2010, CNN’s Alina Cho would have earned her nomination in the last week of the year.
She interviewed Lorena Bobbitt, who wisely decided that the only way she’d ever get another date was to change her name to Lorena Gallo, in a Where Are They Now segment.
In the middle of the interview, Cho asked what may be the dumbest question ever:
“After all these years, are you finally able to laugh about it?”
Remarkably, the former Mrs Bobbitt says she is able to laugh about cutting off her husband’s penis. No word on whether John Wayne Bobbit is laughing yet.

CNN is definitely not alone. A major mainstream reporter interviewing Hugh Hefner (now THAT is an interview that is a waste of time) about his upcoming nuptuals, looks deep into Hugh's eyes and asks "are you still sexually active?" A question AND answer I could have done without. I would have said something like "none of your damn business" only in much stronger terms. Since when are questions like that appropriate for a public interview?
Am I the only one that views Hugh as nothing but an old lecher? His magazine may have delusions of grandeur but it was built upon the lust and base nature of humanity. I have no clue why people respect him in any way, shape or form.
If the public can respect a man like that, then those types of questions are fit for public consumption. Me? I would rather let a wookie rampage in my day room then watch a channel such as that.
I definitely agree Warren. Lecher that he is, Hugh is about as praiseworthy as Paris Hilton, though he was a lot smarter about building a financial empire. And as a woman, let me thank you Hugh, for telling a generation of men that women were actually attracted to men who put notches in their belts because they were so "coool!"
"I would rather let a wookie rampage in my day room..." Being a Star Wars fan that would be awesome to see although of course I will have to have an elephant gun and bullet all set and ready in case it is coming after me.
I agree with everything you said by the way.
Hefner's time has come & gone. Say what you will about the nature of his buisness, he was very successful. He is now going through what everyone else is going through in the media. Playboy is having the same issues that the newspapers & other print publications are having because today you can just point & click to what you want. Hef is just lucky he's going away when he is, when the world he built is about to sunset.
Yeah he is good at making money, but I'd hardly call him successful. Not in my thinking. He hasn't had a stable family life, a wife that loves him. he's had children, but even that didn't turn out well. He's lived off the vice of people and not the virtue. His has shown again and again his idea of beauty is only skin deep, despite the good "Articles" his magazine may have.
Now my Grandpa? He is about the same age as HH. I'd call him successful. He raised 4 kids to adulthood who have had kids of their own. Three daughters and a son. He has been married to the same woman since 1947, pastored a church for 25 years, helped many people without feeling the need to be paid back or even wanting to be paid back. He still does to this day, though he is much older now. He is a man of honor and virtue. He isn't rich in money but he has always had enough to feed an extra mouth at dinner if the need arises.
With that kind of person in my life it is hard to look at Hefner as anything but a failure, despite his empire and money. My grandpa represents the very best of this country has to offer and the real reason we are a great nation - Hefner? He can go jump in a lake.
Congrats for having a wonderful Grandpa who didn't tell you, but SHOWED you how to live a successful life. He sounds like a wonderful man. God Bless him.
Thanks :) I"m glad I've been blessed with a good family. We've had our share of tragedies and no one is perfect, but it has been a good upbringing.
That is why when I look at people like Hefner, it is hard for me to respect any of the accomplishments. To me he is much like a drug peddler - he feeds off of human frailties. As many good things that exist today (no more slavery, equality among races, etc) it always saddens me to know that porn has become so common place that many people don't consider it wrong. Hefner is one of the men that helped that happen.
I know not everyone agrees with me and I do think that Hef's time is fading (As danybhoy pointed out) but the damage is done.
Uhm... I have no idea what was going on through these women's minds. The only thing I can think of is that they both believed he deserved what he got, but even IF he did and I barely remember this situation, I don't see any compassion here. I thought that liberals were the ones that were compassionate. I also don't see any contrition nor shame here... oh wait what am I saying of course they are liberals... compassion, contrition, shame all of those things are alien to them. Shameful creatures.
Alina Cho and her inane question is just another example of how irrelevant and stupid CNN has become. Who the hell cares about Lorena Bobbitt and her fifteen minutes of fame? Next she'll be interviewing Jeffery Dahlmer's father to ask if he still regrets raising a cannibal son. "Hey Mr. D, after all these years are you finally able to laugh about it?"
So, this is what passes for humor now????I long for the days when we use to laugh at real jokes...

Because there's no American Embassy in Washington DC.

An elderly couple was sitting on the couch watching TV. As they were getting along in years, remembering things had become a problem.
The wife turned to Harry, her husband, and says, "Harry, why don't you make me an ice cream Sunday with chocolate syrup, nuts, whipped cream, and a cherry on top."
Harry, scratched his head for a moment as if thinking about it, and responded, "OK, Helen."
"Write it down, Harry," she said, "or you'll forget."
"Oh, Helen, I don't need to write it down. I won't forget."
"Yes you will, Harry. Write it down or you'll forget."
Ignoring Helen's pleas, Harry shuffled off to the kitchen. A while later, Harry returned to the couch with a plate with two pieces of bacon and a fried egg.
"Harry, damn it all," Helen said in disgust, "I told you to write it down or you would forget."
"Heck, Helen, what'd I forget?" Harry asked with a puzzled look.
"Where's the toast?" Helen demanded.

Anyway, you get the idea.
Yep. Apparently CNN is on the cutting edge of the news, not that I would know, my tv's are set to ignore CNN.
The only question I would have been interested in is if it is true that John Bobbitt changed his name to Les Johnson.
That would, indeed, be proof that he can now laugh about it.
Yeah, I heard he was tossed out of the military. Seems he kept getting separated from his unit.
....why does any one care where she is now? I know I don't. I could've lived the rest of my life without knowing.
So is there so little news around the world that CNN is grasping for stories? Or is this just a ratings grab?
They have no ratings so it can't be a ratings grab; I think it's more like, "Time to misdirect the public, Bama's in trouble again."
