We have the audio: Congresswoman leaves voicemail asking lobbyists for cash

Non-voting District of Columbia Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton – a Democrat, naturally – is a moron. A corrupt moron.

This corrupt moron actually left a voicemail for a lobbyist in which she strong-armed him for money by citing her seniority and all the stimulus-funded projects she had helped secure in his “sector.”

“I was, frankly, uhhh, uhhh, surprised to see that we don’t have a record, so far as I can tell, of your having given to me despite my uh, long and deep, uhhh, work. In fact, it’s been my major work, uhhh, on the committee and sub-committee it’s been essentially in your sector. I am, I’m simply candidly calling to ask for a contribution. As the senior member of the, ummm, committee and a sub-committee chair, we have (laughs) obligations to raise, uhhh, funds.”

Congratulations, Congresswoman Norton. You just earned a nomination as Dumbest Member of Congress 2010.

  • Ohhh, and look what goooooood work she has done!!! I'm so glad that "we the people" can contribute to this cause!!

    Congresswoman Norton helped end the city's most serious financial crisis in a century, in the 1990's, by achieving a historic package that for the first time restructured the financial relationship between Congress and the District, by transferring $5 billion in unfunded pension liabilities and billions more in state costs to the federal government.

  • Another member of the Congressional Black Caucus that should be facing ethics charges... or a criminal investigation... Rangel, Waters, and now this... Its really sad that people serve in Congress like this but sadder that all of the above are perennially reelected by their so-called constituents...who they are only exploiting for votes. But isn't that always the way Marxists do it? Scream about inequality, racism, and exploitation, and then live large (like Moochelle Imamobama...and her husband) on the backs of the taxpayer while laughing secretly with their elitist friends about their "poor underprivileged" (read, "kool-aid drinkers") but enthusiastic supporters. What kind of sickos are these pinkos?

        I smell a rat, too. Some of the information passed out is a little 'too good" -- like when somebody passed Breitbart that Sherrod video. I think it is a plan to discredit conservative media -- the only real defense is good journalism, and due diligence. What I think is happening is information that looks juicy gets passed out, and then later it gets shown to be out of context, and the lib media stands there saying how the conservative media twists things out of context. I think some, not all, in the libtard media learned from Dan Rather's mistake, and realized how a 'smoking gun' can be leaked to take down the guy holding it.

        It is way too important to be accurate.

        • I agree. It is very important to be accurate in reporting from the conservative side of the media or else the libs will cry foul EVEN THOUGH they have messed up more, but it doesn't matter and the only reason it doesn't matter, is because so far they have a big hold on the media. With that hold it is on the conservative side to be accurate and cross all the t's and dot all the i's.

          It could be that is legit within the context presented, in that case she is EXTREMELY stupid to make the call herself as that is what aides are for. So these people are arrogant AND idiots. So in that case good, however I always want to know who leaks stuff of this nature and for what purpose just to cover the bases. Unfortunately we can never be too careful.

          I also was indicating that corruption comes in all colors. The color of her skin is not important it is the fact that she is corrupt that should be the main thing and people like her regardless of their skin color should be voted out as soon as possible.

          • That's right. I feel that members of the CBC would be well advised to hold themselves to a higher standard because, like it or not, anything they do is under a microscope, and not just by white racists -- it is very demotivating to see a hero of the community turn out to be a crook. Politicians are subject to the same failings as anyone, and couple that with the ego rush of being in power, and it's no wonder that some of them do stupid stuff.

            It is especially worse because an overly sympathetic media has cut them too much slack, making them feel that they can get away with it. Long time ago I worked in retail. The statistic we used then was that 30% of the population in general will always steal, 30% will steal if motivated, 30% will steal if there is opportunity, and 10% will never steal under any circumstances. We need that 10% in office, but if we can reduce the opportunities and motivation, the odds at us getting 70% good government are drastically improved.

            This is what the tea party is truly all about -- holding politicians accountable, eliminating the opportunity and motivating them to be honest. That also means that just because we get a tea party candidate in office doesn't mean that we can rest -- we have to watch them carefully. All politicians need scrutiny.

  • Sadly, she's just the tip of the crooked Congressional iceberg. Equally sad, she' s not the dumbest member (although she's dumb enough to leave a recorded message). Saddest of all, the MSM is paying NO attention to this matter.

  • It is not illegal to be greedy, stupid, elected, talk with food in your mouth and ask for money, is it? That is correct - but we are talking about politicians, those elected to SERVE the public. We near DC watch this kind of behavior all the time and the DC people re-elect these all the time. See Mayor Barry, Mr. you set me up. He is always up for election of some post. It does not matter that these elected officials make mistakes, err with billions and want more, just so long as they drag the party line. They cover for each other.
