Creepy political intimidation in Wisconsin. A mailing Ann Althouse received from the Greater Wisconsin Political Fund showed “my name and address and the names and addresses of a dozen of my neighbors and whether we’d voted in the last 2 elections. The letter says that ‘we’re taking a new approach… sending this mailing to you and your neighbors to publicize who does and does not vote.’ We’re told this is a matter of ‘public record’ and that ‘After the June 5th election’ (the recall) ‘public records will tell everybody who voted and who didn’t.’ I found that quite disgusting.” The 1930s are back, economically and politically.

Years ago when I was young I had a job where I "Had" to join the teamsters here in the people's Republic of Kalifornia. Before I could work one day, I had to pay 300 dollars to join the "club"...Then when I did (cause I needed the job) I was given all kinds of propaganda and an "official voter guide" plus a rulebook and a pep talk from the Union rep about how non union business are scum and I need to shop only at union businesses. He was creepy. He also said I would have a union mentor till I learned how to operate within the teamsters. Sounds just like Communism. They even had tips for how to shout down and belittle your "enemy" during a strike.
I eagerly anticipate a strong repudiation of the thuggery of public sector unions tonight. The majority of voters in Wisconsin voted for Walker because he ran on everything that he is doing and has accomplished. How much out of state money is supporting Barrett? This is an election that, IMO, is almost as important as the national election in November.
I concur with your assessment. Rarely the optimist, there are no pangs of doubt that usually foul my hopes. I have a small wager with one of my friends up there that this win for Walker will be such that a recount won't even be considered due to the landslide numbers. The proggy dogs are loud but their bark is worse than their bite. If they take it up with the people in a form less than cordial, they'll find the People are disposed to suffer while idiots are sufferable. But after the long train of abuses at the hands of their proggy moron neighbors, they will rise to beat them down.

Threats and intimidation are two of the favorite tools of organized labor. With voter registration being under the freedom of information act, organized labor has found a new avenue into which they can attempt to coerce others to do as they (organized labor) wishes.
Those of you in Wisconsin, stand up for your own principles and vote your convictions, not those of the organized goons and their mouth pieces.
The proggies are going to find this has an opposite effect than they want. It will anger the right and make them vote for Walker, the left will remain apathetic as ever.
And where is Eric the Red and the DOJ when this kind of sickening display of obvious voter intimidation is going on? Nothing but crickets, the same thing will happen when all the union thugs are hanging out at the polls.

It's not even so much the unions in general, as it is the public worker unions, the ones who negotiate with politicians to get their contracts. Politicians who are negotiating with other people's money, rather than trying to run a business, and do things in an efficient manner. And yes, I lump the UAW in with government workers now.
I was born in Wisconsin and lived in Milwaukee and Racine for 50 years. I've been in Florida for 4½ years now. My lease is up next April. Things being as they are, I'm 90% likely to move back to Wisco then. For me in this economy, there is absolutely nothing better here than up north. I hate the humidity and the heat more than I hate the whipping ice cold wind. Hell, I stay inside the vast majority of the time anyway.
If they had had the CCW law as they do now I'd probably stayed there. It is remarkable how many new non-liberal friends I've met online from back home through various social networking channels since I've been here. The proggy libs that seem to dominate Milwaukee and Madison skew the perception people have of Wisconsin.
The state has a voting record that seems to indicate it is a liberal state. Seems to me that has to have been influenced to a great degree by the union control of many workplaces. I think it will probably go right for a while now. Many people get the picture. The libs are loud and they get more exposure due to the lefty media, but most people are catching onto the fact the the media are prone to more BS than truth and lots of people don't appreciate getting hosed all the time.

In the past year I've come to the conclusion that many liberals as sociopaths, Brownshirt wannabes; they can key my car, tear up my signs but they can't keep me from voting for Scott Walker on June 5th!

Classic right wing scripting, and absolutely untrue. Try living for a year or so without state employees, and then tell me how little they contribute. Things like investigating child and elder abuse, and protecting victims of same. Things like enabling uninsured people to get medical, dental and psychiatric care (assuming they can find someone to treat them). Things like prosecuting accused criminals, and/or incarcerating them if they're found guilty. Things like making sure state highways are kept in decent repair, and bridges don't collapse while you're riding over them. Things like investigating the safety of hospitals and restaurants that you frequent. Things like making sure you're not risking your life every time you drive on the interstate.
