Democrat Congresswoman inadvertently reveals that Cap-and-Trade will trash our future

Candidates

Rep. Yvette Clarke, a New York Democrat, told C-SPAN exactly why she voted in favor of the Cap-and-Trade bill. She’s either the most ignorant woman in Washington, DC or the most honest. Take your choice.

C-SPAN: What factors are you considering that would push you to vote yea or nay?
CLARKE: You know, there were a whole host of concerns that I had about whether we were really taking all the steps and measures we need to jettison us into the 21st century.

Yes, Rep. Clarke, Cap-and-Trade will definitely jettison us into the 21st century. We’re just not sure Rep. Clarke knows what jettison means.

So in an effort to educate, we proudly present the Merriam-Webster definition of jettison: “To throw away, of something encumbering.”

Synomyms include “get rid of, remove, discard, fling, toss, toss out, chuck out, cast aside, dispose, throw out, cast out, throw away, cast away, put away.”

So our deepest appreciation goes out to Rep. Yvonne Clarke, the only Democrat in Washington, DC willing to admit that Cap-and-Trade will throw away our future.

  • LOL LOL - cough, cough.. huh? More than likely jettison us out the 21st century and back into the bad old days of the 18th or 19th. Centuries:
Rippling effects - increased cost for everything ----
-What electricity ? I think I will read by candle light tonight. Better go to bed with the sun. Wake with the sun.
-Dark cities, city streets too dangerous to walk at night. Cities have trouble paying for lighting. Decorative lighting is abandoned.
-The Rich hire men with torches to walk beside them at night. (If they are real lucky they may be flashlights!)
-Keep the heat down to 60 in our homes and businesses most of the day.
    -Walk just about everywhere possible
-Do I buy food or pay the heating bill?
-People stop going on vacations. Airlines fold. Boeing folds.
-TV? Movies? (there goes Hollywood!) Luxuries of all kinds ? Necessities come first.
-We start hanging our clothes out to dry in the summer time like our parents.
-Food in the cities becomes more and more expensive as transportation costs increase, as cooling, processing, heating, and distributing the food all increase in cost
-We don't light the outside of our homes at night. Increased crime.
-Wear several layers of clothes in the house. Maybe three or four. Our houses become as chilly as medieval castles.
    - Increased illness - colds and the like.
-Our big buildings - sky scrapers - will become extremely uncomfortable, almost breathless as businesses try to save money cooling, circulating the air--- modern ventilation.
-NO more cheap clothing for the masses. We use, reuse, make things locally. - Our clothes begin to look more and more like previous eras.
-I would suggest those vast complexes we call malls are abandoned. Vast, cubic spaces - what will they cost to heat/cool, air condition, etc?
-we find out that renewable energy is great science fiction.
-The Middle Class topples - that class that is just comfortable. Has money enough - not rich, not poor, not professional, not unwashed or uneducated, works hard, strives to save... in short, my class.. we begin each year to live more truncated lives. We don't spend our precious money on anything but necessities, as I have repeated throughout this list.

Has anyone thought about the law of unintended consequences in this vast experiment called the Obama era? Well, President Obama did say we would have to sacrifice to make his vision a reality.
-- all my guesses - projections of cause, effect.. Don't have a time line.
