  • Remember when Obama ran for re-election last year bragging about how he kept GM and Detroit out of bankruptcy? Remember that? At the point he was making that brag GM had already declared and come back out of bankruptcy. Now Detroit makes the lie complete. As usual, the question is whether the president is even aware that he was lying. Depends, I guess, on what kind of new sources he finds at the golf course.

      • Why would he watch the news? When he hates what they are reporting, he just sends the order for them to go to The White House for a meeting to "get on the same page" & report what Obama wants them to report.

    • At this point in time, I don't think Obamacares if he lies or not or if anything he says is factual or not. All he did, he did to win. However unlike most people he doesn't care about the outcome or repercussions because he believes himself to be insulated from any negative outcome. Why he has that believe? Because he's Black and we need to be honest about that.

      • What is your solution KQ? How do you get a complete jackass like Obama to care about all the destruction he has wrought? Do you repeal his signature legislation, do you hold him to task for each and every scandal his administration has perpetrated against the people of this nation and against our sovereignty, do you appeal to his basic human dignity? Where do we go from here?

        • There are so many problems that we have to tackle. As for Obama the only solution is to wait him out and vote for a better government, but how do we ensure that we foster a good government for the future? Hard. Obama will not be taken out of office and it will be hard to repeal this crap. We cannot make Obama care about what he is doing because this is what he wants to do and he doesn't care if it means destruction for the country. Remember, he wants to transform the USA and us all and if means destruction then that is what he means. He believes the other side of the destruction will be a Progressive Utopia and he is wrong.

          If the media does not get on the side of right here how can he be put to task for all that he has done...? We have to win the media back how do we do that? Don't know.

          He has no basic human dignity.

          Where do we go from here? Be prepared for the future, keep educating individuals and groups on Conservative values and ideals. Speak out, vote... Find ways to foster good government perhaps by supporting righteous people when they run.

  • I bet some of the upper echelon members of the SEIU are beginning to consolidate their ill-gotten gains and quietly leave town. Meanwhile, all the other union members just found out the hard way why you should never trust a con man from Chicago.

  • Another of quagmires promises going belly up. He lied about not letting Detroit fail, now all of the city union members are getting to feel the "hope and change" of quagmire. So union folks, the next time your presidents and other members "talk you" into voting straight democrat, remember that one party rule has screwed you yet again.

    Some times in life you must take some of the bad news and make it good. Was it not better to take a little less back then instead of taking a whole lot less now? As you are trying to figure out where you are going to find that part time job or that new full time job to off set the pension loss, just remember. You voted for this and now you have your "hope and change" Changed from being retired and having some what of a decent pension to having to work until the day before you die and no pension at all. That is why you must take charge of your own future. Saving and investing on your own is better than counting on the government pensions that you put your faith in. Worshiped at the alter of dim wits got you screwed.

  • I'll bet that the judge that overrules this, and one certainly will, will find a nice stipend suddenly appear in his bank account

    • If that happens, I would bet Ford would have to actually consider pulling out of Detroit. The city needs reform in the worst way, & just being in Detroit hurts the company. Especially if no changes are going to be made in how the city does business.

      • Ford ought to leave anyway. If this is over ruled it will still be back to corruption as usual. If not overruled, it will be back to corruption as usual and they will be in the same place in another couple years.

    • The most interesting thing though is that a lot of comments about Detroit inevitably includes comments about this being Republican fault somehow. That the Republicans aren't helping or Republicans' decisions caused Detroit being a cesspool. Either thing is incorrect. Being a Democrat city is the reason it is a cesspool and why would Republicans waste resources and time trying to fix the mess of those that are constantly being voted into office? This is indeed not a surprise when people keep voting for what doesn't work.

      • In a way, it is the Republicans fault. If they had won more mayoral elections, they could have slowed the decline, or even turned it around.

        • Poppa, I don't think that the Repubs could have done anything, the people of Detroit got exactly what they wanted.

          • I have to agree... Even if they ran they would have lost so they took their resources and time and put it elsewhere. Sometimes when the cause is lost it is time to retreat and let people deal with their decisions. However it is true that there has to be options, but I understand Republicans deciding to move their resources elsewhere. What bothers me is that there are calls for Republicans to go in there right now an fix the problem, I find that so disgusting. They get the blame and then they also get the imposition to help solve problems not created by them... it is so liberal.

          • After the racial violence in 1968, the money (not all white, btw) fled Detroit for the suburbs. Detroit has been rotting ever since. I saw it first hand when I worked for GM. It is a model of progressive policies that no bs from the left can ever explain away.

  • Precedent set. Public sector unions's benefit excesses will finally be reined in. Too bad cities have to die to get that accomplished.
