Ed Schultz achieved the almost unachievable on Friday, April 22. On that night he lost a remarkable 61% of Rachel Maddow’s lead-in audience. And it’s not like her ratings were anything to brag about.
As you can see in the following chart, MSNBC was rolling along with decent ratings – by MSNBC standards, that is – until Schultz hit the airwaves. Then it appears that leftists across America jumped for their remote controls and tuned in somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Not only does Ed lose 61% of Maddow’s audience, but the 11:00 rerun of Lawrence O’Donnell’s 8 p.m. show falls just 1,000 viewers short of Ed’s total. And the rerun isn’t even in prime time hours.
We’d call this an embarrassing performance, but it’s worse than that. Wholesale rejection by MSNBC’s niche audience may just be a one-way ticket back to North Dakota for Big Eddie.
Our advice? Don’t sign any long term leases, Ed.

One would think Ed's editing trick on Rick Perry might have been the last straw for him on MSNBC. Especially after his suspension for calling Laura Ingraham a slut twice on his radio show. Why do they want to stick with someone who gets such poor ratings in addition to all this?
I came across Rachel Maddow on Letterman last night. At one point she said:"Saddam may have been a nightmare..." "may have been"? The spirits of the gassed Kurds and the people pulled from mass graves in Iraq beg to differ with her. Liberals can't seem to call evil evil. They seem to always have to qualify their words.
They don't qualify their words when they call you and me terrorists.

Most of the comments I read sound like they were written by repubs. They excel at being nasty. I personally think Ed is right on the mark. He is a strong voice for the middle class that the repubs don't give a damn about. I like all of MSNBC'S commentators.
I ain't no Republican, but I am a conservative, & there is a difference. I am a very nice guy, but I also have no problem being nasty. Ed deserves exactly what I give him, because he's an ass. He used to be a conservative radio host who went liberal for professional reasons. Mainly because he could'nt compete nationally with Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Savage, & the others. Make no mistake, Ed is about Ed, he does'nt give a damn about ANYONE else, the unions & middle class only matter to him because he's using them to advance himself.
He still can't compete, but he is the biggest leftist radio host...which is like being the greatest ice hockey player from Kenya. He abused his ex wife, who he worked with on WDAY in Fargo...on air. He has a legendary temper, & has gotten into more then a few fights in public places, a couple have become physical. He has no filter at MSNBC either, he's been warned about borish behavior several times, & will likely be sacked if it happens again. Plus his ratings suck ass, which should get him fired anyway. The man is a jerk, he thinks his sh!t does'nt stink, he's not likable, & he's at the last chance saloon. I can't wait for the prick to emplode, live during a broadcast & be sent to pasture. It could'nt happen to a more deserving person, & I CAN'T WAIT.
To say Ed is the biggest leftist host is like saying he's the tallest pygmy. The way you become the biggest leftist host is by losing affiliates slower than your competitors.
I'm not sure if Ed's actually the biggest. Search IHTM for "Ed Schultz" and find a story we did about the small and rapidly diminishing number of radio stations that currently carry his show. Funny thing is that I was just updating that list yesterday and it appears that he's lost four or five more affiliates since we ran that article. He's down to about 40 stations and most of them are in really small markets.
Yeah, he's got to compete with the likes of Bill Press. I was in Los Angeles this morning at THREE A.M.!!!, which I guess is a prime time slot there, and got to listen to my old buddy Bill once again. Can't say I miss him. Of course, he was talking about how his President is obviously a genius.
KTLK, the former Air America station that carries the Bill Press show in Los Angeles, has laughably low ratings. The latest "book" shows that they have 0.5% of the listening audience. That doesn't represent a lot of people even in a market the size of LA. And remember that the 0.5 rating is the average audience from 6 a.m. to midnight. You may have doubled Press' audience when you tuned in at 3 am. KTLK is only the 43rd highest rated station in the market. 43rd! It barely tops the ratings of KGGI, a station with a signal that barely bleeds into the Los Angeles market from the neighboring Riverside-San Bernardino market.
By way of comparison conservative powerhouse KFI is rated #2 in the Los Angeles market with a 4.9.
Good info editor, nice to see the numbers. BTW, Schultz & Press are on Sirius & XM, so if you have satellite radio like me, they can be heard. Also, Press has'nt mattered since his days on CNN's "Crossfire", & if he did'nt have his radio gig through the Center For American Progress(he broadcasts from their studios)he would be completely off the radar.
I just drove along feeling good that he was relegated to 3:00 A.M.
Actually, his show is live from 6am EST, 5am here in Minnesota. So 3am in the west would be live.
BTW, he does his show from the studios that are at the Center For American Progress. So we know where he stands, & who he works for. Soros & Padesta.
Ok. He was in Los Angeles last time I listened to him, decades ago, and since I was listening to him on a tiny channel in Los Angeles, I just assumed he was broadcasting from a broom closet in the basement of a housing project in South Central. Which of course, is where he belongs.
